Hi all, from time to time I check on MMORPG games list scores of MMORPG games of course. And I got really confused today seeing that LOTRO has score of 8.4. Now I would not want to be someone who is accusing things generaly but I have tried this game and found nothing in it to give more than 7.5 let alone 8.4. So this is really a plead for explanation why does it have 8.4. I see that Warld of Warcraft still have 8.1 score and it is confussing to me as how some other game which is clone of World of warcraft can have higher score than original?
Can someone please tell me what is so special in Lord of the rings online?

These are three bulletpoints to help reinforce the fact that LOTRO is a superlative product worthy of a great score.
LOTRO's gameplay is very similiar to many MMOs out there. NOT JUST WORLD OF WARCRAFT's (which also modelled itself after the Industry standard). Doing this is very common in MMOs because they want to garner a larger playerbase without a huge learning curve for the new players.
LOTRO is a flawless play experience, all things considered, from level 1 to 50 you'll get to explore a very rich central storyline that leads you through an amazing display of graphical enviroments many growing up have only really been able to picture in their own heads after setting down the novels.
Its an insanely solid product, that in the same amount of time that WoW has had so far, will be really, really... good.
With the Mines of Moria launching this fall, and then on further south into Rohan (Mounted Combat being looked at by the Developers for this future expansion)... Lord of the Rings Online hsa a very promising future _ontop_ of a more sturdy foundation than so many other games.
It deserves it 8.4 rating.
Because LOTRO is above and beyond WoW on every aspect. Graphics, gameplay, depth, and above all, general maturity level of the players.
Also, calling any game a clone of any other is just silly. I could call WoW an EQ clone, which could be called a UO clone, which could be called a graphical clone of any of the thousands of MUDs, MUSHes, and MUUs out there.
I played WoW for a long time, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it got boring. It was time to move on to bigger and better. I'm still trying other games as well, but nothing has matched the epic feel of LOTRO; especially not any game that hasn't been packed with screaming, whining, L33T-SP34K drippling script kiddies yelling about how it's no WoW.

How many RTS' or FPS' or RPGs or Sidescrollers... (so on) have the same, or similiary, gameplay?
Yeah, lots.
Cuz lotro is a lot better than WoW. And why is WoW getting higher score than EQ when its a clone of that? Why am I responding to this dumb ass blog?
The rating scale is based on user votes, of course fans of the game wishing to promote their favorite MMO of the moment will give it scores of 10 and tilt the scale. The fact that it has a score of 8.4 rather then 10 means there are people who give it scores of 0 and such out of their dislike of it. Fair and biast scoring it's not, you just get a general idea of how many people like it vs how many dislike it.
Maybe because you are out of the mainstream of society. What is a 7.5 to you could be a 9.0 to everyone else, and vice versa.
Because it's better than WoW.
Also, these are user reviews. I'm sure there are people who would give it a 10. You can give it the score you think it deserves and move on, but the general MMORPG population obviously disagrees with you.
WoW's PVP by most reports is better than LoTRO. That's it. LoTRO is better in every other aspect.
I'd say LOTRO is a lot better... Allthough i Dislike LOTRO.
If you are tired with wow and want to try a game that looks great and has a really friendly and mature community, then lotro is the fantasy game to play. And if you are a fan of Tolkiens world then I cant see why you havent tried it out yet :)
But I must say that the game has some technial issues with fps going straight down to hell now and then, even if you have a high end compture and are playing the game on lowest graphical settings (just for test).
