One of the things I adore about this game is the sky. It's the best I've seen in a game since Fable! I currently play WoW until LOTRO comes out, and the sky in WoW sucks. It's just horrid pixels, which shift a bit to simulate cloud movement.....

Whereas the sky in LOTRO is gorgeous! When I first saw a rainbow in the Shire, my jaw dropped

I think sky (Day & Night) in BOTH WoW and LotRO are great!

I have found awesome moments in each game in all day/night phases.

I have my graphics in both games turned to max and my Contrast/Brightness/Gama tweaked to just the way I like it.  And, as an aside, I think EQ2 graphics look fabulous as well, now that I can run it at a bit higher quality than when it launched.

These 1st person MMORPGs are just a sweet, sweet experience.  Can remember thinking 30 years ago (when it was all Stick & Line) that *someday*  I would be able to play as 'You Are There' in a realistic environment.

Enjoying em all.

Depends on what a person is coming to this game for.

Myself one of the attractions is the more realistic approach to the world, which also means the skies being earthlike.

I've played TBC, the skies are amazing, but different.  Apples and oranges.  A better comparison would be between EQ2 or VG, games that are trying to emulate something more similar to our own sky.

Good. Bad. I''m the guy with the +5 Shock, Heavy Repeating Crossbow!

The sky is awesome in DDO also, in fact all the weather effects are cool from the sound of thunder and the falling of the rain. When the sun sets over the Rusty Nail Tavern I always stop and have a look.

You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

DDO was a complete and utter failure at a MMO imo... I am a veteran D&D player since elf was your race and class... I was so let down that I nearly swore off Turbine games completely and it took me a while ot warm back up to the idea of even trying LOTRO.

DDO is like paying a monthly fee for guildwars, but with less areas, a horrible level and loot system and with fewer players.

I adore DDO but then we are all different and look for differing things in the games we play.
