Everquest II

Cause all I can play as are the Fae and what the hell is that about? Why would I want to play the trial as a race I was never planning on making?

Someone please tell me there's another trial somewhere, if not that'll be the shortest time I've ever played an MMO.

Seems kind of silly, but apparently the trial forces your first character to be a fae.  After making that character go back and you will be able to create any of the others (except Sarnaks).

I just poked around the EQ2 site for a bit and did not find the original trial link, although it may still be there somewhere. What you downloaded was the latest "Play the Fae" trial. They have not as yet, as far as I can tell, created a trial for the new Sarnak content.

You should be aware, however, that just because you have "play the Fae" it does not mean that you must play a fae character in the trial (I admit I find it funny reading in other places how some people are so rabidly fearful/set against playing that race. Really guys, your manhood is safe. Even with wings. I promise. ). There are other races that you can select so that you can experience the content of the game and then make an educated decision as to whether you want to pony up the monthly fee.

It's not my manhood I'm worried about, it's the fact that I just don't want to play as a fairy. It's the same reason I won't play a Froglok, I refuse to play as a race I used to slaughter gleefully in EQ1. And yeah, I felt the same about frogloks when they added them back in EQ1. I killed everyone of em I saw on Sullon Zek.

I have actually read about people who would never play EQ2 again after they only could choose a Fae in the trial. They wasn't aware of that you had to create a Fae in order to be able to create characters from other races

It's a bad move from SOEs side to restrict new players that might become future subscribers to a race that looks like a fairy. It's not good marketing since the vast majority of gamers are male. and most males don't nessecearly want to play a fairy.

It seems that SOE wants to say "hey, look at our new models and starting zone". There is a better way of doing that!: Have a message that says "Theres a newer starting area and a newer race, please try them" instead of scaring players away

Well thanks for the help but it would appear it was for nothing, only took me 10 minutes to figure out I don't like it.

What was it that put you of? I'm just corious. I want to know what it was about it that you didn't like.
