this year saw a rise to a huge amount of free 2 play mmorpg's , some people love them some people hate them .

i personaly hate free 2 play mmorpg's.....i prefer the traditonal pay to play game......

cos they have a better service, more (and better quality) expansions and updates, and they uaully have a more mature comunity (except for WoW)

also imo most f2p mmorpg are really poorly made...and have an anoying playing comunity......

Whats your openion :)

i agree with u...

Personally, I prefer pay 2 play rather than free 2 play. Yes, most free 2 play are poorly made but that doesn't really matter for me... the thing is that they are the majority the same, with no new content. However, the are some that are worth the time playing... (just a few)

My only foray into free to play has been 2moons.

I spent more money on that game in 2 months than i would have if I had purchased a full time game and subscribed.

There are a handful of aspects about the game that I appreciate.   There is an endless list of annoyances and design flaws.

My vote goes for pay to play.

It's like comparing a cheap beer like Meister Brau to a bottle of 1956 Golden Seal Jack Daniels.

Yes, the Jack wins hands down, but sometimes you and your buddies are broke. Or you have spent your cash on a lot of other stuff, and the drinks were just an afterthought for a few laughs.

Sure, the first few levels err I mean drinks, can be kinda rough.  But then after a while, with the right group of friends, it's alright. I'll take the premium stuff over the cheap stuff anyday; but I like having the cheap stuff around for the times I just want something without breaking my wallet.

And it's usually better with a few buds drinking err gaming with ya then going at it by yourself, in which case you're bored easily.

Don''t Panic!!!!

It depends what you are talking about.

The slew of low budget Asian games or some of the ones (Asian and western) that actually make an effort. There are many free to play that are worth the time to many players.

Perfect World has everything and more then any pay to play in terms of scope and features.

There is Anarchy online. A game with more depth and far more developed them most games out right now.

Silk Road continues to be one of the most played MMO's on XFire stats. Pretty grindy but has a lot of scope to it once you get up there.

Dungeon Runners is a hoot, Space Cowboy was a lot of fun for awhile. Guild Wars is basically free to play. I don't see any issues with that one. Its not a traditional MMO but that doesn't make it a bad game. To bad Hellgate didn't work out so well.

Generally I don't get involved long term with free to play games, I keep getting suckered into believing the hype of games like Vanguard and they will somehow be better and worth a monthly fee.

Playing: City of Heroes, Guild Wars
Favorite Games: Lineage 2,World of Warcraft, DAoC, AC, Vanguard, Ryzom
Tried (Meh list): Everquest 2, Guild Wars, LotR, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate, Warhammer(beta) SWG, DDO, RFO, FFXI, PotBS, EVE
Waiting for: Fallen Earth, Star Trek, APB

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

Most F2P games are crap. there are, however some that are decent (and listed above)

I would consider Guild Wars the best F2P game out there. Some people dont consider this F2P because you have to pay for the game itself (but no monthly subscription). It all depends on what your definition of F2P is.

I have found that most F2P games are very casual player friendly and usually pretty solo friendly as well. Some suck some are great. The same thing can be said for the P2P games.

I got sick of playing MMO's that feel like a second job and yet I have to pay them. A grind is a grind and every game has them. I dont think P2P games up to this point do a better job of hiding the grind. You would have to be blind if you cant see the grind in the most popular P2P games right now.

Customer service in F2P games can be really bad but once again P2P isnt much better at times.

I dont go looking for either type of game. I like to try them all. I dont really have a preference either way. I do think that F2P games are bunched together and seen as lesser games by a lot of gamers. That they are all some how inferior to P2P games. I think people should judge a game by whatever standards they consider to be fun not by how you pay for it.
