Only one question, why do you recruit only certain archetypes if you dont know AT END what they will be, the skills they will got, and how they will work? cause the game is NOT RELEASED Do you know something like others dont?

We put the cut off, and I think I've explained this in this thread, at 8 members per Archetype. This.. of course.. leaves room for improvement.

Most of the members in Scorn ideally know what they plan to do in WAR.. be it.. Tank, do DPS, or heal. We do have rules when it comes to switching Archetypes, to keep the overflow to a minimum... However, if someone completely hates a class once they try it out.. we will not hold that against them.

So.. back on topic.. We do not know what they will be.. we have an idea of what we want. Mythic gives a general overview of how each class will work.. The game is NOT RELEASED and this is a Pre-Release guild. Simple as that. Check out all of the other Pre-Release guilds. They allow anyone and everyone... and once the game comes out they allow them to roll 5 different classes to figure out what they will be playing.

So.. in short. We recruit a number of members per archetype.. so we do not have an overflow. However, we left room for recruitment if members decide to change their mind.

or perhaps... you know something others dont?

That's correct. We know how to be organized. :)

"life is crazy, but life is amazing" -OAR

Just for once I'd like to see a guild step away from the whole "WoW way of recruiting" and do what used to be done.

- Then later you mention how WoW is not the progenitor (is how it is really spelled), of the MMO world.  How can you call a way of recruiting as the WoW way, when we're recruiting before the game is out.  The 'WoW' way does not base applicant's on their application alone, WoW does not set the guidelines for asking certain questions as you have so obviously suggested.

This is my main reason for "flaming" ....gonna step off track here for a second to give you a true defnition of flaming...

From wiki (and no it's not the whole thing but this is why I've gone on a personal crusade on your guild).

...most often however, flames are angry or insulting messages transmitted by people who have strong feelings about a subject.  Some equate flaming with simply letting off steam, though the receiving party may be less than pleased. Similarly, a normal, non-flame message may have elements of a flame -- it may be hostile, for example -- but it is not a flame if its author seriously intends to advance the discussion.

The whole application process wasn't commonplace until WoW came around.  Before that I hadn't even met any guilds that used applications.  It just wasn't something that was considered.   Let me put it this way.  Everyone and everything has rules....that's not my gripe.  My gripe is that your making schedules already, your making raid schedules and requiring times for peopel to show up.  Is this what you envisioned yourself doing while playing games?  Showing up at "AnomScorn's" beck and call, having to apply to a guild with an application just like a JOB?  People, this is a game here.  As such it should be treated like a game...even if it is an alternate fantasy setting which your supposed to immerse yourself in it doesn't require this much work in it.   This is a game....PERIOD....nothing else.

I was goign to continue on with more reasons but I realize now that it's futile to try and persuade you to change the way you recruit.  Wasn't really my intent to begin with, was actually hoping that others would read the thread and realize what my ponit was but obviously you think everything is about you.  This isnt' really about you, your just a sacrificial lamb put out there by me tryign to get others to realize the sillyness of your style of recruiting.  You put the glamour and glitz on your recruitment threads.  I'm here to take that glitz and replace it with what it really is...bullshit...but I realize that there are still some guilds out there with respect and an awareness of the real world and how to balance that with games.

I'm done with this thread.  Go ahead and get the last word in.  At this point it doesn't matter.

May your adventures be exciting, your loot be epic, and all your hits be crits!

The guild is not just a PVE Heavy guild, it will participate in all facets of the game. We will be heavy into raiding, period. Raiding is just a term for when something can not be done with a simple group. When you need more than a small party, and have to invite extras, it then becomes a raid group. We will raid in RvR, and in instanced PVE. We are looking to be a guild of active players who know what they are doing. We do not want just anybody off of the street who has never played an MMORPG before let along never completed a console game.

If you want to raid, and know that 30+ people will be online at the specific time from one guild, this is the guild you should apply to. For me personally it is better to be in a small good hardcore guild than it is to be in a anybody can join guild because in the end the smaller guild who played better will do better. For one, you get to know people and how they react in certain situations, which lets you know what you have to do at that time as well. Bigger guilds may do okay because of numbers, but down the road the guild may be together for a year and you may be raiding with a group of 25 people and you only actually know 2 or 3 of them. This would make things more difficult. Also, if you do not know them, then you have no way of knowing when they will be online as well. This would lead to you having to now spend time you wasted with them, finding a guild to better suite your hours. In this guild, we know each other, we play games together, are active on the forums, and can trust each other.

We know that every single night we will be with the same 30+ people, raiding. Can you say the same for other guilds? We raid, period.

No offense, but my Everquest 1 guild had you apply beforehand to get in. Just because you never met a guild that made you apply until WoW, does not mean they are not out there. Just because you never met a Cop does not mean they do not exist.

I do not understand why you are mad about the process in which we recruit. If you do not like the structure of having to fill out an application, then you do not. I am sure you wouldn't walk into a place that has a "now hiring" sign out front and then go inside and complain if they asked you to fill out an application, you just move on. This is a game, and we are treating it like a game. Some people take games more seriously than others. Football is a game, Baseball is a game. Those people sign binding contracts to play those games. You are trying out your entire career to play these games. Learn to look outside the box and you will see many games taken much more serious than what you are complaining about here.

Why would you try to change the way a guild recruits to begin with? Also, if it wasn't your intent as you claim in the next sentence then why would you admit in the first sentence " it's futile to try and persuade you to change the way you recruit"? How is the way anybody recruits "bullshit"? We do things differently than you. We chose to have an application process, some guilds require a vent interview. Making people post an application shows that you are willing to put in time. If you are too lazy to post an application that at max takes 45 minutes to fill out, then it shows you aren't willing to put in the time for us. Obviously, you aren't going to waste an almost hour of your time filling out an application unless you were serious about it. How is that bullshit? What is the point of a pre-release guild accepting everyone they can when more than half of the people will likely not play the game, not play on that server, not keep in touch with the guild, and have to be cut?

We like our members, and all of our members obviously didn't have a problem with filling out an application. Almost forgot to add, if you are not in our guild, then why do you have so much concern for the way we recruit? Our recruiting doesn't affect you at all, so why so much worry? Relax, this isn't your guild, these aren't your members, these aren't your rules. We respect your guild thread and do not flame it, we should be treated with the same respect here. Be an adult.

I'm done with this thread.  Go ahead and get the last word in.  At this point it doesn't matter.

Like I said, it never should have mattered to you in the first place as it had and still has no impact on how you recruit, or your members.

With the release of our new website comes the release of new guild features!

You can view our website now at:
http://www.scorn-war.com/

Some new features:
- Ventrilo Live
This allows members, and non-members, to view who is in Ventrilo and what we are doing! It's an awesome feature for members who do not want to log-on when nobody is online.. and for those who wants to make sure some people are on before they log in!
- Recent Posts
This will allow members, and possibly non-members, to view the latest 4-5 topics posted. This will let all of you non-members to view that we are an active guild and we take pride in being that active!
- Screenshot Location
With this, our members can submit their screenshots and I will post a new one daily (or whenever we get them in!).
- Member of the Week
This allows us to award one specific member a week, and sometimes longer if we cannot find one for the current week, with a special signature picture. It's more for the 'I've done a lot this week.. and he's my reward.' Once the game is here we will not be awarding DKP or anything that's in-game..
- Recruitment on the Main-Page
This allows non-members to pop in and see exactly what we are recruiting. As we are getting fuller, our recruitment is almost closed. Once we are at closed recruitment, we will remain at closed recruitment until 1 month Prior to launch. (If we need the members...) If not, we will remain closed into release.

I'm glad you all took the time to read this, if you didn't.. That's fine!

Come on and say hi at http://www.Scorn-WAR.com/ and hell, while you're there.. Submit an Application!
