Actually Killershiver, if spent more than .078 seconds glossing over Pyro's post you might have noticed he said "because i don't think the game will release. . .".  I believe that speaks quite clearly of an opinion.  Your flame of any and all doubters to this games release smacks of desperation.  And no wonder, after 6-odd years of empty promises by the devs, it's really all you folk have left.  I too would love to see this game release but alas, I fear I must concur with Pyro on this one:  I just don't see it happening.  I hope I'm wrong, I really REALLY do.  But frankly, I'm amazed there are still people around who swallow what the Darkfall devs are telling us.  It all just seems like so much smoke and desperation.  But hey, time will tell (or maybe it won't) . . .

Also remember folks: Just because many of us think this will never release doesn't mean we don't want it to. I really do hope this game is as good as the devs claim. I really do hope that it releases sometime within my lifetime, especially if it is. But I honestly, at this point, don't believe them anymore.

If it releases? GREAT I'll be playing more than likely (IF it lives up to the promises). But I strongly doubt it will. These guys have lost all credibility with me long long ago.

tarem why is that because they decided to make the game better and stay in dev the people getting payed to make this game its there full time job unless there 40 plus people then plus payed testers being payed to lie to us

fine i understand they dont pr well but thinking there lieing at this point in time is just like wtf

but on the side note the quality of the game on how the game will turn out after release that is up in the air

Look, it is not the case that the longer a game is in development, the better that game will be.

Unfortunately, games (like all software) are not written in a vacuum, but to run on a specific piece of hardware.   As time passes, hardware improves, software improves, and what once was state of the art becomes commonplace.  Game developers then have a choice to make.  Either modify the game to take advantage of the new tools and resources, or stick with your old design.

Stick with the old design and you have game that will run on just about every machine out there, but which will look sub-par when compared with games developed for more advanced systems.

Modify the game to take advantage of the new hardware and you open up a giant can of worms.  This is because you are probably using a new (or at least a new version) of your graphics engine, which means you are redesigning your world, updating all your textures, redesigning your models, etc.  Lets not even talk about the physics ...

Keep your game in development for too long and you can quickly get to point where you are not making any significant improvements, just continually redoing your art to take advantage of the latest hardware.

It has NOTHING to do with how long the game is in development.
It has EVERYTHING to do with statements like:
Beta will be this year
...
...
no beta
Oh we're pushing it back to next year
...
..
..
Oh well Beta is ready but we don't want to do it just yet, we could release today if we really wanted to...
...
...
...
1 year later
...
...
no beta..
...
...
...
...

I'm sorry. I just don't BELIEVE them anymore. I really hope the game lives up to their hype. I really hope they do release it and I hope it's every bit as awesome as we'd all like it to be.

That said:
I'm not holding my breath. And I'm sick to death of people posting in forums that Darkfall is going to be "Teh gr34t3st 3v4R!" when we haven't even seen a friggen beta yet.

Hype they dont barly pr out side the dev journals

AOC is going to fail because of there hype (i just dont believe them anymore ) <-- does this make since no it doesnt

its the fans hyping it not the devs and yes i know bout there stupid beta issues i talked to the mods about it why do you think they devs dont hang out in the irc any more is because of them kept saying it

they have missed 2 official beta dates its not that big of deal other mmos have missed much more dates thata re official we just got lucky to hear there internal dates

Just give them this year

i really doubt anyone going to believe them any more after this year

Know what else doesn't make sense?  "We could release the game tomorrow if we wanted to.  We could start beta anytime, but we don't feel like it."

What, after 10 years, they wanna keep us in suspense even longer?  Who spends millions of dollars and years upon years of development to get a game to beta stage only to not test it?  And for no reason at all other than "well we just don't want to"?  Yeah . . . okay.

It's been my experience that when something doesn't make any sense at all, it isn't true.  The Devs are full of dookie.  They are taking us all for a ride.  And it's a damn shame too, I was really looking forward to this one.
