..When Blizzard and Upperdeck do this

entertainment.upperdeck.com/wowmini/en/

Warhammer Fantasy/Hero Quest much?

I'd say I'll take the high road and just say good luck to them, although spinoffs of WoW aren't that popular and in some cases highly expencive.

Currently Playing: EVE,WoW

blizzard is too slow to capitalize on WoW's popularity.  it was slow to release the TCG it was slow to release the RPG and it was slow to release this miniatures game.

most companies with a popular game like that would suck it dry by releasing everything from cards games to school bags

First, this is not new news.  The initial information on this was mistakenly leaked out at GenCon last year.  It's amazing what you can find out if you give the right person the right amount to drink :)

Second, this is not in anyway a copy of Warhammer Fantasy.  If there is one thing that WHF does not have claim on it is being first in miniatures.  There were miniature games around long before WHF or Rogue Trader.

While it would be nice to be able to say 'Look who is copying who now!!!' it is just not appropriate in this case.

Actually, the game looks cool and could be fun.  It is completely different from WHF.

By the way, you do know that when you post stuff like this it makes you look just as bad as all those who like to shout 'War is a WoW clone!'.  Be better than that.

Dont stop feeling, just start thinking.

People actually care about this kinda stuff?

Yeah I gotta say this really wouldn't be a WAR clone in this case, just more nuts trying to capitolize on their market. Kinda slowly but still goin' at it.

...Think that's all I had to say...really don't care enough about a WoW miniatures game to give much thought to it.

Eh...it works...

MMOs I remember: AC, AA, DAoC, EQ, EQ2, L, L2, PS, LOtrO, DDO, Planetside, BE WW2, WoW, Ryzom, SWG, TR, CoX, HL, DR, PT, Exteel, Guild Wars, AO, Archlord, Dreamlords, Atlantica, Entropia, EVE, FF XI, Maple Story, Ogre Island, Planeshift, Rappelz, RFO, Runescape, MXO, SotNW, SL, Vanguard, UO, WAR, PotBS.

Mmos I subscribe to: none currently

I need a better game...

Actually this game has been in development for a long time - since the CCG was being developed actually.  However, some early issues with getting better quality models (from what I was told) caused a serious delay in moving the project forward.  Actually at one point I heard it was close to being killed outright.  I was starting to wonder if it had been.

I would also disagree with you about being too slow.  They actually moved on this pretty quickly.  The RPG was out in June of 2005 (Amazon publishing information) in its first version.  WoW launched in November 2004 (per Wikipedia).  GIven the this it takes to get a core RPG book to market which is then can easily double when dealing with a major license due to the approval process they got it out pretty damn fast.  It was most likely being written before the MMO went live.

The card took longer but doing a CCG is a much riskier proposition (developement costs are higher typically) I can understand why it took more time for someone to pick up that banner.

Lots of companies do miniatures and stuff like this for their most loved characters and lots of companies take ideas off eachother.

Those sculpts (and paintjobs) looked like complete ass

Im guessing the actual game will have more in common with Hero Clix than an actual miniatures game (Pre assembled figures, no unit/figure customization, sold in blind packing and come in common, uncommon, rare and epic like trading cards)

eeek... I totally missed out they were pre-painted. Well no money from me then... as the examples was butt ugly painted. Sure you could just prime them and paint them your own style, but I dont really like pre-assembled minis. I pass.
