Let us kill each other, only then will our genesis unfold

Good MMORPGs have good pvp Wow doesnt have that. currently games with good pvp are Lineage 2 and Eve online that have decent graphics. So those are the two best games right now

There is nothing you can say that hasn''t been said...

I suppose that the idea here was to start a thread.  Unfortunately on this website it seems we have many that take a negative slant towards the game that is currently the standard bearer for all current games.  Maybe the idea was to stir up the ol' "I hate WoW" posters.

At any rate, I have enjoyed my time playing WoW as an objective, adult gamer.  But, it's not my favorite currently.  As of now, I am enjoying EverQuest 2, as I enjoy crafting.  I am seriously thinking about rejoining Vanguard again as I understand many of the glitches have been corrected, so we'll see on that game.

I used to play Lineage 2 and was pretty much "hardcore" as the youngster would refer to.  But, the love and lure of that game has faded for many reasons that I have written about throughout their forums.  I enjoyed it immensely at one time and find myself thinking back to the old days.  Because of this, I'm currently in research phase of a book that will be mostly about the L 2 MMO experience, but also have some reflection of other MMO's as well.

The best is really a matter of opinion because what I might think is the best might turn out to be the worst for someone else. The best mmo for me at the time was FFXI because of the awesome community they have, the gameplay is challenging and I really liked the character classes. When I played WOW I thought it was an ok game but a huge turn off for me was the cartoony look and the horrible community, though if it wasn't for Blizzard being smart at marketing I doubt the game would have the success it has today.

I have been playing WoW for 5 months and have not once encountered a bug of any sort. Granted, they had over 2 years to get it right before I started playing, but I've played nearly a dozen MMO and stumbled on bugs in all of them. WoW may not be the most fun or entertaining game I've ever played, but it certainly the best coded, which is a big reason I continue to play it-- I know that when I take a quest or craft an item or fly to x it's going to work properly every time.

For those commenting about bad PvP in WoW, play an actual PvP server. Once you get out of the starter areas, you'll get attacked every day. Or go to the outlands, where Alliance and Horde share the same zones and content. Tell me that isn't good PvP. I've had times where I had to wait until morning to finish a quest because I'd never make it to the objective alive.

If you're talking about the arena battles, that's not PvP.

I liked DAoC and the old SWG the best. DAoC was my first game and Wow was your first; see a similarity here?

MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC & SWG

Currently Playing: WoW

Ive played WoW for 12 months, lotro for 2 weeks EQ2 for 2 years Vanguard for 12 months and currently playing SWG for 2 weeks so far, but all plae into comparison when i think back to my 7 years in Everquest :) Nothing will ver compare i suspect. WoW was good for the 12 months i played it but it seemed to lack in character individuality for me. In the world of norrath my Ranger was a legend and felt like one to. You had to actualy explore and use your head to complete quests. you were forced into using the community too. nowadays games take you along a path and show you where to go next, you die! no matter well give you your stuff back and start you of again. In Everquest it was a case of "sorry but aproaching a dragon that will obviously eat you alive, you will lose your items or have a whole load of trouble getting it back, it made the game a kind of stealth crawling feel in dungeons.

So no for me wow is behind Everquest swg and vanguard. probably around the same level as eq2 for me :)

In my opinion, WoW's not close to being the best at anything. It's the whole "jack of all trades" thing that attracts people to it. - Most MMOs out there beat it graphically. - Guild Wars, EVE and DAOC all beat it PvP-wise. - Everquest 2 and DDO have better PvE. - DDO has a better combat system (better than any I've seen in an MMO, to be honest) - LOTRO has a more involved world, where you can farm, buy a house, etc WoW's popular due to people being attracted due to the reputation of the RTS, and being "good enough" to keep them playing. After that, people told their friends about it, and it snowballed from there. Being just "okay" at a lot of things is nothing to sneeze at ...it'll net you a lot of the general population. (which aren't the kind of people I'd like to play with but that's a discussion for another thread)

...moo?

I loved WoW, played it from beta for about 2 years. But it is behind SWG for me, (pre-cu and nge), that game felt like we were creating a world, going out and building towns and harvesting resources from the world, could climb up through high forests into mountains, or head to bustling coronet. PvP also meant something, massive fights over bases and real rivalry.

While I enjoyed my time in WoW, the most fun I had was in the last week of open beta when we had pvp raids hitting the xroads, 3-4 at a time, after release I had a guild that did those raids once a week, and it was real fun, sacking towns and killing everything in them, but battlegrounds destroyed that fun. The game just deteriorated into a massive grind for mats and repair money, so I could get items that would in turn let me go somewhere else to get better items, so I could...you get the point.

I would probably have EVE up in front, but that is personal taste, that game has so much depth if it was easier to get into I think it would be the best.
