I am under the understanding that a person can Buy houses and build cities in game. Is the game a sandbox? |

Vanguard is a sandbox game in that you are not completely driven through the game and there are a large number of activities you can do at any time. There is housebuilding on housing plots. Housing plots are arranged in groups with general resourses there or near. Things like crafting area's, some general vendors and a riftstone not too far away. You can also build a structure called a guild hall which is a very large building. Other then that you can't really build a city where you build general structures and walls and stuff like a shadowbane. There was talk that this might come at some point in the future but I'd not expect it for a long time if ever.

Houses, Guild Halls, Sloops, Caravels.. yes, can all be built. All the funishings for Houses and Guild Halls are also crafted. I don't know when Player Made Cities will be in or how it would happen. New Targanor is built in such a way that diplomats align to certain factions and build prestige with those factions. This could be a precursor to how cities are managed and who has control. Also, Crynn's Cove 'looks' like a player made community the way it is set up etc. and I don't think it would be a far jump for players to also make shops etc. That said, I haven't heard a peep out of developers about player made cities in a long time. Although the building blocks might be in place. |

It is sandbox game enought, but if you whana pure sandbox go to UO. the strengh of vanguard is, that you can do crafts, not just as additon to your mob grind fiesta, But it actually a strong aspect of game. And crafting actually is fun, not just pure clickiing competition. |

VG is a quasi-sandbox game offering many options and freedoms, but to me a true sandbox game is skilled based. |

I'd say Vanguard is the closest to a sandbox I've played that still conforms to the levels/gear/Trinity mentality. Mainly, it has a dramatic lack of hand-holding. There are quests, most (not all) of which have the obvious quest icon over an NPC's head, but the quests rarely dictate where you adventure next. You're never forcibly contained to one area. There's plenty to do and you are free to do it all anywhere and in any way you wish. |

But theres no point to a house. u get a recall u can use once an hour and storage space. Thats all the houses are used for glorified storage spaces. I mean u can craft beautiful furniture, tables, lamps etc but u can eve interact with a chair. thats right u cant even sit down on a chair. theres NO animations for interacting with any furnishings. pointless really.
