I am not sure I would want to be connected that closely to guildmates.

If $medleys involved in it you can bet its a scam

and border line criminal activity

Why in the world would I want to dial up to a service like this using a land line or cell phone while playing a game?  The whole purpose of software like Ventrilo is to get rid of cell phones and land lines.  I want the hands free access that I get with using a headset and mic.  Using a cell phone or land line is a step backward in my opinion.  I'm thinking this is less a replacement for Ventrilo and gaming and more a replacement for your current phone line.  Am I reading that wrong?

Need standard chat for groups and raids? Check. Don't want to tie up your own bandwidth? Roger that. Want your voice to sound completely different? Done. Late for your raid but want to take part in the group setup by cell phone? Can do. Dream of having in-game voicemail? There ya go. Playing a non-SOE game but want to use this service, free of charge? Aye.

Doesn't look bad, specially the non-$$$OE game part.

The cell phone is just and added option to a ventrilo-like voice chat, I think.

God forbid a gaming company should attempt to make a product that increases profits.

It never ceases to amaze me the hatred and irrationality of the SOE haters.The  OP  didnt even mention a game it was just a byproduct of SOE.

I don't think so.  It says it doesn't tie up your bandwidth.  That to me says it's not VOIP.  And if it's not VOIP how do you connect to the network?  That sounds like it's a product that is used with land based wired service or cell phone wireless.  I don't get it.

Edit:  Ok, did some research and it is VOIP.  So how can they claim it doesn't tie up your own bandwidth?  I mean it HAS to use some of the bandwidth.  I guess they mean it doesn't use a lot of your bandwidth, but that's kinda deceiving.  It's basically a glorified ventrilo or teamspeak service.  It's nice that SOE has adopted it and all and the extra features are kinda nice, I guess it comes down to how much is it gonna cost to use and how important the extra features or the voice quality is compared to Ventrilo or Teamspeak.

I found that line very funny, that gave me a good laugh.  Worldwide leader...maybe self appointed. hahhah  Worldwide failure of online games is more like it.

Ok I should have read the whole article before I wrote this because it gets funnier.

Most game companies who try to make AAA games would think hundreds of thousands of subscribers is a failure.  NCsoft closed down Auto Assult and it probably had hundreds of thousands of subscribers. hahaha

If SOE didn't treat its customers like marks to be fleeced, there wouldn't be any SOE hatred.
