i was wondering if i can make a ranger in proph and then take that ranger to factions and then make a ritualist as my secondary from there?

yes you can.

edit: In fact doing so will get you "Ascension" a lot faster than going through the prophecies storyline. Once you get to Cantha you'll have to go through two missions, Vizunah Square and Nahpui Quarter, then you'll be ascended and can change your secondary class.. If you're already ascended you have to go through those missions to get to seijin's corner to get to the class trainer. I've never gotten ascension with a prophecies character *in* prophecies (I take them all to factions) so I dunno if Rit's a choice at the prophecies class changer.

NO! Sorry to tell you that you have to be ascended, Weh No Suh or equal for your own campaign in order to be able to change secondary profession. You first need to become ascended then you can go to factions and change secondary profession, you can also travel to Isle of Balthazar or whatever it's called, there you can always change secondary.

it may have been that way once, but I assure you I started my warrior in prophecies last year and gained ascension not in prophecies but in factions at the Closer to the Stars quest. She's a prophecies started character pre-sear I took to factions for the kurzick armor. After I completed Weh no Su I was ascended. For the record I've never gained ascension in prophecies with any character.. I can log into my warrior and show you screenshots of the areas of the ascalon map I've visited as proof of this, but she *is* ascended.

the fartest I've gotten in prophecies so far is I just finished the first 15 point attribute quest... so you *can* take a prophecies character to factions and get ascension faster... however what you cannot do is the 15 point attribute quests from a different campaign.

something else I noticed is that you cannot take a factions character to nightfall and do the "building a base" quest chain to get ascension, apparently that chain is NF character only thing, I tried (cause at the time I REALLY hated running Nahpui but I wanted an assassin). So I took that alt to NF to do the building a base quest really fast, which I did, but no Ascension.

Prophecies characters can get ascension in prophecies or factions, I've never tried taking a prophecies character to NF to get ascension but odds are it probably will not work since it doesn't work for factions characters either.

factions characters can get ascension in factions obviously but I have no idea if they can goto prophecies (but why as it would take a lot longer) and they *cannot* get ascension in Nightfall.

I honestly don't know if you *can* do that.. I mean.. I suppose if it's possible you could, but you'd sorta be shooting yourself in the foot by not having the versatility of a secondary profession...

I mean.. even at the absolute minimum I always give my non-monk heroes /monk as a secondary class if their builds allow it just so they can have a re-useable rez. Same applies for my main characters.. My ranger is running a pet-centric build that is almost entirely based on Beast Mastery so she's running a Ranger / Monk build. Only reason I have /monk is for Rebirth.
