If it became F2P, I would stop playing it. F2P games are crap. |

Do you know? this got me thinking. Would I even play it, if they paid me to do so? At the moment, the game is broken in so many ways, I wouldn't , even if I was offered the standard $15 per month to do so. Shame, I really liked it in open beta. It was only once they started to pull the "NGE" trick by changing the game to something different after release that I felt this way. "Pay to play beta" seems to be the FLS motto. |

It may need some work (what MMO doesn't?), but it's far better than any F2P POS game, like all that Asian garbage. |

Originally posted by LethalBurst I agree, most MMO's need some work, unfortunately POTBS needs a complete overhaul. Personal opinion though. |

SO what you are saying is.......
The game is good now. But if it went F2P (which changes NOTHING about the game you are already playing...except to cut out the monthly fee) it would magically turn BAD????????
My god this site breeds genius. F2P model with P2P options would save the game in the short run....but it would cut down on active workers building new things into the game. That and I'm not sure what model would be best for offering a Pay option either. Perhaps limit the ships you can get...or perhaps cap your level. I dunno. Anything like allowing you to pay real money for ships would kill the economy. Thats a no go.
I'll think on it some more. I may be able to come up with a decent solution over the next day or so. |

No I wouldn't play it even if it was ftp. I don't hate the game, I just think it was poorly executed and ignored the most important aspect....fun. It was designed as a WOW clone by checksheet. Let's begin with a PvP game, then add levels, skills, avatars, PvE quests, classes, economy, instances, and a touch of wargame. Place in blender, and voila, instant standard MMORPG formula game. It does everything every other MMORPG does, just not as well. Maybe to improve it they could go back and add elves, hobbits, and orcs to the blender. The developement team just doesn't get it.

If that's the most ignorant thing you've ever heard, you must live a pretty sheltered life. But, seriously, making this game, or any decent MMO, F2P would ruin it, IMO. If a game has no subscription fees, then they have to implement P2P options, which are completely ridiculous. Paying money for things like extra character slots, extra ship slots, etc, is just silly. And paying money for otherwise unavailable in-game items and equipment is just plain cheating, IMO. P2P options would just divide the playerbase into those who pay, and those who don't.
