The quests are well designed and extremely well-written, as they make you feel like you're part of some thing grander, and you, as a player, are left with a feeling like it actually matters what happens to these characters that you interact with as a result of your own actions. I actually found myself by the end of things in Tortage wanting to go back to see how things had changed after the storm had cleared. If you're the sort of person that skips through quest dialogue and so forth, then give yourself a slap in the face now for even considering doing so in 'Age of Conan'. It would be a great insult to the quest designers to rush through dialogue options and what-not especially given the great amount of research completed and thought done going into writing these quests. As a player in this tapestry of drama and adventure, it felt truly as though I was single-handedly weaving the threads of this epic tale, unravelling it bit by bit.

I'm going to put a close on this journal entry, but I'm going to finish by saying that Tortage is probably the best introduction to an MMO as far as "noob zones" go, and I don't use the word "best" loosely or tentatively; I mean it! These are my personal feelings, however, but the whole experience left me thinking, "If this is what a 'noob zone' has to offer, I can only imagine what the rest of the game has in store for me".

Nice read, good job Weezer. I've been pestering for a Quest update for a while now, they should do an indepth look at it podcast style!

i gotta ask....do you have a job? Not trying to be mean...just you seem to crawl all over the internet..wish i had that time between work and my 2 yr old...i can barely sit down to eat dinner!!!!

I work for my ISP, so it kinda goes hand in hand :) along with awesome pay and awesome connection speeds

Plus Weezer is a friend =)

Was a good read. Looks like I'll be able to hit level 20 on day 1 providing there are no launch issues. That and if I get my pre-order code so I can d/l client on the 14th and start playing for keeps on the 17th.

The Themepark Method of making MMOs is structured entertainment, akin to a puzzle. I prefer a legos style where I can build what I want and something new everyday.

I hope weezer can come out with a couple of more journal entries before release, because this one was awesome, even if it was about the same old Tortage stuff we've read before.

The same old Tortage stuff is all we'eve ever read before! I don't recall hearing much about quests or where you go post-Tortage.

I mean I guess Funcom doesn't want to spoil it or break their own NDA...

It's a catch 22.  Don't release any info on the mid to end game, and people either think wow it must be as good as the newb area or older gamers who've been around for countless launches just think it must not exist yet.  lol
