If there are people worried about Vista I would suggest partition a HDD and have them all.  Hell while you are at it install a real OS and put on Linux

Hell, Vista is sooo easy it does everything for you.  The only problems start to occur with Vista is if your system is outdated by a number of years

or get a display driver BSD which there is no fix for now matter how much you try...go ahead..search it out. If you find a fix....please let me know!

I don't need to search for a fix - mine aint broke

As for the topic, I am glad devs are making games for the future, not games that will be outdated and craptastic in 2 years.  I'm sure most of you have played the older mmos out there.. ao, eq, etc etc.. do we want our current mmos to look that way to us in a few years as the technology vastly outdoes anything we have today?  I prefer they make the games to be ahead of the curve.

Today's 2000$ rig will be next years 150$ flee market bargain item.

If somebody actually buys that rig they need to be smacked. I'm sorry but a 30$ motherboard and a 25$ PSU will never, ever be in any of my computers, that's absolute trash.

yup...but like i said Vista is garbage...DX10 is keeping it on life support....PC heads are having just a big of an issue with Vista as casual users. Hell Microsoft extended service for XP till 2014 in January rather than the original date of 2009...due to the fact that Vista sales are horrible due to bad programming. It will take years to put it back together

/agree

Alienware used to make top notch high end PC's for a moderate price.  Now all they do is sell half decent PC's at a top end price going off the back of their once great product...

I hope AOC will be a futureproof MMO as far as one can get.  There is too many today that do not hold my attention for a great length of time or I go and comeback when I'm less bored

Sigh.  Everything I hear makes me think the system requirements are what is going to kill the sales potential of this game.

WoW and other popular MMO's are big largely because they run fine on practically anything.

It's great and all that AoC is supposed to be next gen, but personally I'd rather have a popular game that looks decent, instead of one that looks incredible but fails.

Yes, that's true, but that is one of the reason why many PC games fail.

An MMORPG does not need super graphics.  It needs accessibility to succeed.

@ OP: I wouldn't go so cheap on the mobo and PSU, and you don't need to throw in an OS because everyone already has one so they can just port it over to the new system...but yes Newegg is the best.

I recently built a new rig from newegg for $487.38 without mail-in rebates factored in. i had a new mobo, ram, video card, case, cpu, and psu.
