It would be nice if Amazing Avery would tone down the expert advice a bit !

Canceled my preorder because of several impressions i caught in the beta over a long period of time.

Basicly, the determing factor was that certain formerly large announced innovative features got dropped completely, while others got watered down towards release. Also, the game feels way too much like tailored to a gaming console (like i.e. heavily zone based and restricted world design to meet the technical abilities of the Xbox, joypad adapted controlling and abbreviated content to not ask too much of the console kids).

I'm also member of a huge and well established 8yrs old MMORPG multigaming guild in which several veterans as well canceled due to their beta impressions. Decisions which of course were not bug related, but rather about what they think is a poor direction the game is taking in certain points in general.

That makes 5 more out.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

Funcom implementing a very craptastic crafting system that will go down as an all-time low for AAA MMORPG crafting systems.  Oh ya, they did release the details public about their crafting system.  Oh ya, I did cancel my pre-order.  Imagine that.  All I can say is that if you REALLY love crafting a lot more than combat, AoC is NOT the game for you.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

Boo......

It seems the closer to release this game gets the more the beta testers(leakers) express their discontent.   Across multiple boards I have consistently read the same things over and over.  It is not a bug or graphics issue but one of direction and false advertising on the part of Funcom.  Strange.......

It has certainly raised my eyebrow as I feel one or two posts mean nothing. This is a lot more than one or two posts however..........

The above quoted line is simply hitting the nail 100% and as well matching to my experience and conversation with other players.

Well put, Hairysun.

Reason for this is that the people that dislike/hate the game or Funcom are naturally going to shout about it on the forums and don't give a **** of breaking the NDA, eventhough i'm pretty sure most of them are not even in CB and are spreading baseless "facts".

Now you might like the game, or not, but don't pay attention to the doomsayers (not even the people that say that the game is great). It's really irrelevant if the posts are positive or negative but the reason you're reading more negatives than positives doesn't mean shit cause the people that are liking the game respect the NDA and find troll posts irrelevant, void and not based on anything (+they're probably too busy playing the game ^^) .Each player is unique and might or might not like the game. Take WoW for example... look at the amount of players they have, it's the most successfull MMORPG by far, though would you like AoC to be the "next WoW"? (i'm guessing u say no :p)

That is all.

Any "innovative" game that comes up with Capture the Flag as one of their primary pvp games has to make you wonder.   That must have taken 2 seconds of thought to come up with.  OH sorry now its "Capture the Skull" ultra cool never heard of that one.  On the other hand alot of reviewers are talking like their hands on experience is pretty cool.

Any place I have ever preordered you give them 5 bucks as in EB and if you decide not to play, you put the 5 bucks on something else or they hand you the money back to you.

I am also wondering if they have opened all areas up to beta testers, I know they were limiting players to certain areas when testing first opened.   By limiting testers area of exploration  (invisible walls) isn't that a form of stress testing?   That way you can have a smaller population of people testing but by forcing them into a smaller area you are seeing how the game responds to a in effect a larger population in the same place.  If you have people roaming all over at their free will; you would have to let alot more testers into the game then they may want to do at present to get the same result.  Also they could lead to areas that will open up at a later date ala The Caverns of Time in WoW.    The cavern was there, the features were in place but you couldn't enter the area.

Plus maybe they want to leave some surprises in the game.  I don't know if I would be letting every Joe Blow tester into every area so he can spout his mouth off to the world before release.   I would limit some areas to a core group of testers who are more trust worthy.

The game play, character movement, and combat look 200% better then they did 2 months ago and we still have about 6 weeks to go....at least... so I would look for further improvements in that time.

Kuji thank you, I really needed that. It seems like the negative posts about AoC have gotten stronger and stronger starting last week. I pre-ordered since I'm sure this is the game for me. I'm the kind of person that knows what he wants and goes for it, but the hate posts were in such great numbers that it made ME doubt whether or not to cancel my pre-order.

So all the trolls out there, please go hide under a rock or something. I need some positive news about AoC now. When the Open Beta (if there will be one) is gonna start for example. I personally can't wait to start playing the game.
