This is the rig I currently have and I can recommend it for AoC, don't ask me how =P Anyways, as you can see it is not TOO expensive and some things like the case can go for a lot less, and you may have compatible ram to reuse, or a power supply available to cut down costs even more. This is pretty future proof and has room for upgrades later on and so forth. It gives you everything you need basically. Try to out do it if possible, I was looking for an efficient price/performance ratio with emphasis on performance. In fact when I bought the RAM it was 209.99, the video card was 316.99 (got it on the first day =P), etc, everything was a lot more expensive.

Total Cost: $821.92, that includes shipping
There you go, it is very simple to build the computer yourself and if you have spare OS disks laying around then that is solved as well.

What do you mean? Surely that rig would run conan, just look at some of components. That is what I use and if I ever get a chance to play conan I would expect it to run quite well. I am guessing maybe 64 fps in most areas with some hiccups and a bit of decline when more players are around and so forth, but easily playable. On high settings of course with max view distance, particle effects etc.
Just a guess of course! |

That computer wouldn't even feel Age of Conan's Graphics.
My $600 rigg I built myself, after explaining the stats to a forum dev, told me I'd play flawlessly.
My comp: 200gig ATA/100 HD 3gigs ddr2 800 G-Skill ram 8600GT 512mb OC'ed to 600 core/1650 memory (practically 8800, little heat increase) AMD X2 dual-core 3.0 processor 65w (energy efficient model, means I can OC her if I wanted to 4.0 without any issues) Nvidia Mobo with a max capacity of 8gigs
I'm currently running Xp 32bit with dx10 crack (basically, it's the dx9 files replaced with dx10). I used to believe Microsoft's lies when they told me face to face XP could NOT run dx10. However, after finding the korean (least I think it's korean) modification that enables my 8600's dx10 on XP, I've been happy ever since. However, I currently have Vista 64bit and another 4gig's dual channel G-Skill memory in the mail simply because I'm one of the few on earth (apparently) that know how to customize vista to work just like XP with some improvements over it's predecessor.

PS: I get 99ish FPS in CoD with graphics on MAX. [edit]: Forgot to mention this build is 1 year old =), and it was $600 then. Now, it's something like 400ish. |

True, and yes there are cheaper rigs using the 8600 but my focal point was the 8800gt and a nice processor. |

Deth', The DX10 for Xp is off the 'Games for Windows' site. It may be easier to just google DX10 download instead. |

Also, people need to stop pretending there is this magical "run DX10 on XP" mod. IT DOESN'T EXIST! People will say what they want, but the only mod that was ever in development only rewrote DX10 headers as DX9, which is completely pointless as every current DX10 game can run under DX9. Yes XP currently runs better, however if you want DX10 suck it up like everyone else and get Vista. |
