Well according to the Devs they been in internal beta for a long, long time. There intention is a very polished game and a short beta, 2 months long and a fast release.

And you don't see the problem with that plan????

I'll break it down...Darkfall is a game which is SUPPOSED to have basically nothing but player driven and created content with some NPC stuff added in.  In a game which lives and dies based on the player-made content...don't you think that JUST MAYBE a 2 month live beta is pretty stupid?  Internal testing can NEVER mimic what a live all-comers beta because the internal teams KNOW what they are "supposed" to do.  They have good machines...and work 5 feet from the servers.  You can't make good balance choices (and this relates to economy...crafting.....not JUST combat balance) until you let real players run WILD.

Again, assuming this is real....thats quite literally the most idiotic move I've ever seen made in this industry outside of the NGE.  They are bloody dooming themselves out the gate.  No way will a 2 month live beta fly...ASSUMING its real, there will be massive delays once reality sinks in and players show them just how badly they can abuse mechanics the internal team thought was fair.

Well to be honest i know way to little about what time a game like Darkfall will need for balancing and other stuffs. Im just too unexperienced in that area. My belief in there info is basically based on being in internal beta for a long time balancing and bug testing the game. Might be your right that it will take longer time then they assume. Lets hope for the best.=)

Blessed are the forgetful, for they get the better even of their blunders

Why even bother posting a link to this article? It means, and proves nothing, and is barely worth the memory it is printed on. I mean, if this guy was the leader of a known, and respected guild that had some credibility, then you'd have something. But as it stands, this article is worth no more then the worthless "dev-logs" that keep popping up every 2 weeks that contain nothing more then boring screen-shots, and/or videos that seem scripted.

At this point the ONLY thing that is going to quell the arguments that inevitably pop-up about Darkfall is if the devs cut the nonsense and let someone with some type of credibility in there to get hands on time with the game. The fact of the matter is that NOTHING has been shown that actually confirms there is a playable game here. And no, the screen-shots we've seen, and the videos that don't show any player interaction don't count for squat b/c they aren't actually showing anything that can't be cooked up relatively quickly using the SDK from a decent engine.

The absolute best thing the devs could do for themselves would be to send out a recent-build of the game to a major gaming news resource, or let one come to them and give them hands-on time with the actual game. You know, the kind of things EVERY SINGLE other game developer does. And yeah, I really don't want to hear any of this BS about the devs not wanting that, or that they are concentrating solely on the development of the game, or they are going to let the game speak for itself, or that they don't have any PR/advertising budget. That is just a pure cop-out and nothing more. The fact of the matter is that we're not talking about taking out ads on websites or in magazines, or even anything that will cost the devs any money at all. There is so much FREE publicity out there in the form of previews and/or hands-on reports from major gaming print and online publications that they aren't using and you have to wonder why. It just doesn't make any sense what-so-ever for the devs to not want their game to get in front of as many people as possible.

This whole argument could be over so easily, and you have to wonder why the devs let it go on. They could shut up ALL the naysayers if they just let someone reputable play the game. I mean really, why let some no-name in to play and give a report, but not someone who knows what they're doing?

You don't have to know much about it to make a solid comparative guess.  In the very least, this game offers twice the testable content of WoW.  If WoW needed "X" amount of time to do beta and STILL had some bugs...its a safe bet that this game will need "X+Y" where "Y" is affected by how many members are on the team.

We certainly DON'T want them forcing the game out in some half-crap state.  After all this time, it would be suicide to release with anything LESS than super polish.

Well honestly the Dev are getting tons of ree publicity by allow these type of debates to rage across tons of different forums.  The more we talk and debate about Darkfall, the more people look into Darkfall which creates more talk and debate about darkfall.   If the Devs are smart they keep letting us debate and talk Darkfall for as long as they can before moving on to the next Publicity stunt.

Oh btw I am so sick of hearing about what all the other MMO companies do, what does that have anything to do with anything.  Just because the big boys on the block are cramming there shit in our months doesnt mean Darkfall has to follow suit.

There are two sides to every coin.

Haven't I seen this exact same interview before? Several times before? From the exact same guy?

I swear,  I've seen this exact interview on several different sites before over several years...

Odd.

Lol i remember reading this article last year. It was funny how a gamer calling himself Ass who no one has heard of just happened to be passing through Greece when he got 'invited' to come over to see a year old tech demo instead of the current build of the game because the server 'Happened' to be offline that day.

When will they get someone known and with a reputation to sample this 'game' instead of a nobody?

Could you use a spell checker please as its pretty illegible?

I did read something about this alleged business trip tho in your post. And i point out once again that there is no evidence at all that this person even exists apart from some blogs and web pages?

For all we know Asp is really Darkfalls press person. Such is the power of the Internet you can be anyone and several people with some well placed blogs.
