awaiting _____ of warquestworldPVX

First I must say I have not played beta yet. Reson is my comp is shit. I have been grinding some youtube clips from the paris event and various other informative clips and Q/A:s posts. I don't put much emphasis on ingame-clips since they are not all that objective really. Usually an external recorder and a foreign language to boot. And it's..beta.

Played various mmo beta versions. Daoc, Risk your Life, Knights Online, Lineage II, WoW, EVE. Never played these betas solo either, always had my guild with me, adds a huge fun-factor itself. Of course playing an mmo solo is going to be boring, at least from my exprerience. (Only played retail DAoC and WoW)

Anyways, I see lot's of people throwing garbage statements at WAR like; it's just another WoW. Now by just watching all the paris event clips i can't possible in my rightful mind understand that, at all. Have you even spend one hour doin some research? (not like now, reading forums :P). Now, I really don't care if you are going to play this game or not. But at least spend some time to understand the whole picture, how WAR is structured. They actually do have new ideas. One thing I'm not going to do is explain them, even name them. Although what I really think is going to stand out is the character-customization, which I think is very important. Also the renown system is something I really like (kinda like DAoCs realm ranks). Plus lot's of other things, do research yourself imo and come to a conclusion.

I finally quit WoW in december last year. The one thing that keeps me away from it is solely the battlegrounds. Such a crap pvp experience, it really is. Arenas was quite fun, but nothing that solely can keep me to spend countless of hours into that game. E-Fame in all glory, but it's repetative and shitty reward system. That said I play mmos to pvp and of course have fun, so WAR speaks to me in that sence. I hope it will be non-repetative.

So yes, I'm one of those nostalgic DAoC players, but if you weren't there (pre toa for me) and experienced the RvR brawl you sure missed out on some fun PVP. If you were born with WoW i pity you (fool!). If you like PvE I guess it's all fine.

Last but not least I must mention the community. I really really hope that WAR, or more specifically the server I end up on, will have a tight community. There is nothing more fun than huge e-drama and rvr!

New laptop and hopefully WAR beta also inc!

Sorry, no TLDR version this time.

Just airwalking.

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

The only thing that matters is do YOU like it and your guild friends does it apeal to you or not if you go on a route of oh it looks alot lik this or that you will allways find stuff to whine about. And keep in mind there will allways be people who like or dislike something. Point is do what you like

hrmmm OK

I always thought pvp was the only good thing in WoW

WoW's BG and DAoC are not really that differnent besides having 3 factions. WoW's being newer, better looking and smother. And can handle alot of players without being a slide show.

Anyhow, from what I hear WAR will be big.

Lets see. WoW's BGs = Stagnant, repetitive, same rules, they put you in a box and let you run around.

DAoC = Constantly changing, you could have 38 towers one day and the next be down to 30, flexible, dynamic, takes alot of group effort.

Yeah big difference. And to Pheace: A small example would be the Trophy System.

Glad someone has opened his eyes and isn't going by the name of the game and the picture of a badass lookin orc.

I thought it was the biggest example? What other choices are there besides basic looks on character creation?

Well I know they said dyes for armors were gonna get pretty crazy like all kinds of dif colors. But the trophy system is BIG all kinds of dif places to put them to customize your guy. Also I think they are going to have mount customization last I heard.

You probably haven't played DAoC then in its first 3 years after release.(thats when i quit) but the whole experience between the two is so much different..

Well I'm not gonna shoot back on how which game is better,  but I am sure that DAoC in its day was a great and enjoyful pvp and pve game.

Right now WoW has its spotlight.

But I think that won't last that long after WAR is released. To many people are looking for change and looking forward to this game

And no, WoW won't die but the overall MMO market in the future will grow like weed.

Also one point i can address is that people playing WoW and feel comfortable with it will not spend many minutes looking for the next game. Which is why most people bash WAR, cause they don't know any better. Somehow I can understand that, you get kind of defensive about what game is best and why you think it will prevail.

The whole "wow will die" discussion is something i don't believe in. WoW will continue to soldier on and be the biggest mmo. Maybe because if your guild ain't willing to move, why should you? (to another game)   Also, many people will play WAR for a few weeks and realise it's not quite what they had in mind. Imo a great mmo needs a few good patches to shine. When the larger mass can give some feedback.            Something WoW didn't deliver either was this sort of  "We vs. Them" feeling. I need lumber and gold in this basin type of map, wait, and horses! Ok whatever. AV in it's early day was somewhat touching that feeling with marathon battles.

Anyhoo, enough WoW bashing..

About that customization question, on top of my head what you can do:

3 different skills tree, as well with the morale abilities which I think will be a blast to use!

Gain ranks by contributing to your faction, earn renown points. Customize how you want your character to succeed. Will also effect PVE somewhat. Gain new abilities. And of course earn that infamous rank on top of your head telling your enemies you have been around the block quite a few times.

Trophies, decorate your character with various small items.

More than one set of armor, players will actually have different looks of armor in end game (t6 anyone?). Not just "wear this or be a gimp"

Dyes, pink torso and babyblue legs. The choice is your! (Hopefully not that choice)

Tome of Knowledge, what you do over the course in your characters lifespan. It will actually effect you. Something along the line: if you kill 1000 wolves you can gain a bonus while fighting wolves. Developers said this will effect you in almost every way. I have no idea how good these bonuses will be.                            Tome of Knowledge itself seems a very promising tool.

Thats what I can come up with for now. There is probably more.
