People think news will break at E3. What will you do if it doesn't?

What is soon, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 5 months, 9 months, a year or more?

Don't hold your collective breath on this one.

Even if there is no news from E3 about STO this year, consider the fact that Star Trek fans waited 11 years between the cancellation of TOS and the first movie. We are, if anything, a patient group.

July 28, 2007: A day the silent majority spoke and brought down the communications of the US Capitol

I think the official announcement will be made at next year's GDC.

And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

CBS is only affliated with Zenimax/Bethesda in as much as it is Bethesda who took over the general Star Trek Gaming License two years ago and started throwing out budget titles for the PC, PS2, Wii and X-Box 360 under the Star Trek Title.

The deal signed was for five years, and encompasses all genres of Star Trek up to the day that the deal was signed, however, under the original deal, Bethesda do not have any rights whatsoever to produce a star trek mmorpg.

While it is true that perhaps Bethesda could have taken over the MMO from Perpetual, i would think that the fact that Bethesda have stated categorically that they have no interest in producing an MMORPG of any kind would be reason enough to count them out.

The fact that CBS is affliated with Zenimax/Bethesda is not a contested point - however, the chances that it has anything to do with STO - zero.

According to my sources within Bethesda, they do have at least one star trek title planned this year, but its nothing to do with STO.

Incidentally, it is worth noting that CBS do not have any rights to produce trek titles related to the new movie franchise either, as these rights were signed of to JJ Abrams as part of the 5 year deal he signed to produce star trek titles. It is his company, Bad Robot, that has rights to produce any games based on the new series. They ALSO have rights to produce an MMORPG based on the new movie/tv franchise if if they wish to - But they can have nothing to do with the existing franchise.

Anyway - I am pretty sure we are going to be hearing something regarding Star Trek Online fairly soon. Incidentally, as i posted above, anyone keeping a close eye on the domain around the 3rd/4th/5th of March would have noticed something very interesting. It was covered up fairly quickly and only viewable for about 12 hours, however it was somewhat revealing.

For any folks who question the validity of the information i have posted above - it should be known that i run Hailing Frequency - "The Internets Largest Podcast Dedicated to Star Trek Gaming" and i have done so for the last 3 years. I have plenty of contacts within the industry.

At least TRY and do some research before making your opinions/thoughts seem factual.

Edit:

Good lord, you even hve a "source" inside Bethesda and you still didn't know their parent company had a $300mil funding boost specifically to produce an mmo, and not only that you claim to know that Bethesda have no interest in developing any mmo at all, ever? lol

Your "source" (if you have one) is a tea boy at best, time to get a new one.

Efefia maybe you could link us to YOUR podcast that has been serving the ST community for years, I'd be glad to hear what you have.

Oh I'm sorry, I don't have a podcast so the fact that I posted factual information (with links)  can be overlooked? No problem mate, you can carry on believing that Bethesda and/or their parent company are definately not interested in developing ANY mmo, the $300mil funding boost never happened and lil Zach has watertight inside sources at Bethesda. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Fine. But if you're the Judge, we don't need no damn jury. Just let me be the executioner.

I have come to a unanimous descision, you are granted that privilege.

May your blade be as swift as my judgement.
