I am having a very hard time dishing out the 80-90 bills for the collectors edition. Is it really worth it do you think? The 2 bonus items are what is interesting me, the ring for faster XP seems cool but how much more XP do you acctually get? The cloak for free drinks is kind of confusing, whats the effects of the drinks? are they for fun like beer that will blurr your vision or are they for power/manna regen like in EQ2? Also, who are you guys pre-ordering from? GameStop is giving out the war manmouth and I've read but was unable to confirm from their website that BestBuy is giving out the rhino. I am either going to play a Demonologist or a Dark Templar I think but I can't decide which mount I should get, leaning towards the Rhino though. Do you get anything extra with the rhino like you do with the manmouth (extra 8 slot bag)? |

In-Game Item - "Ring of Asheron" - Gives 2% XP Modifier and 3% Stamina Regeneration In-Game Item - "The Drinking Cape" - Free Drinks for Life!
That annswers your question for the ring. As for the cape, I am not a beta tester so to be honest I don't know. As you leveled up in EQ2 you had to drink more expensive drinks to regain mana at a reasonable pace, and those drinks add up. Its hard to imagine giving preorder accounts something so powerful. Id bet that drinking is more similar to the original EQ or WoW. |

Originally posted by Boosthungry I honestly couldnt bring myself to pay out for the CE... I like my XP to come slower rather then faster! I am happy to mooch free drinks off my friends! Seriously though, the standard pre-order is £24 here, and the CE is £59.98... Thats just too much of a difference to me. There is only so much more I will personally shell out for a leatherette map, a book of art I will probably have seen most of, a soundtrack CD, and 'limited edition' packaging...

Everyone assumes that this XP ring is so worth it but I would hazard to say there is probably going to be XP rings that drop in-game also. I say this because Anarchy Online (Funcom game) also has XP rings that drop in that game. I also bet one drops before you get to 20 and finish the tutorial. I personally would never pay an extra $30-$40 for a ring that is going to drop in-game, no doubt, and for a drinking cape... Power to anyone that wants to waste the money, to each his/her own. I have not beta tested, other than the PvP weekend, so I cannot verify my suspicions because one did not drop in the game before you got to Tortage. That does not prove anything though. They probably do not have all the items even in closed beta. I bet they also will not have them in open beta so people that were going to buy the CE just for the ring, don't change their mind and cancel it because they discover you can get one to drop in-game. |

Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense. |
@OP
then no by no means it is not worth the extra money spent. I on the other hand am looking forward to my other goodies like the soundtrack, mount, books etc. The two items mentioned mean very little to me since I expect to find something better in game pretty fast. The rest of the goodies are waaaay more long lasting, so for me it is definitely worth it. :) |

Seems like a waste of money to me... but then I'm a tight-fisted *******. Also, slow xp'ing doesn't bother me (as long as it isn't GRINDING). |

Only Collector's Edition I ever got was Warcraft III because it came with all those bonus artbooks and stuff. I've never seen an MMORPG that had a collector's edition worth getting. |
