As of right now, Funcom is hoping it'll take around six months for the first guild in Age of Conan to move all the way through the raid content and defeat the final boss, the evil wizard Thoth-Amon.

If this is the case, its safe to assume a average player in a smaller guild  will take closer to 10-12 months to do the same, and by that time Funcom will have even more content ready im sure...i LIKE IT

of course Dev's never know how fast hardcore guilds burn through content so you never know...regardless its comforting to know Funcom is accouting for these speed guilds

Sounds about right. And that is just the end game raid. The time to get to 80 itself will add some time to that.

It is the solo and small group content that counts, as soon as those who like small groups and solo content feel like there is no more for them to do here they move on. The raid content is for the remaining 20% of the players.

Why was that even worth mentioning? Sounds just like any other MMO to me.

Thoth-Amon is the final boss! I knew it! Plus in the comics he can be killed by steel so it will make sense that you can actually defeat him.

Ive been readint the conan comics as of late, and there is alot of talk about him,

I wonder if other characters like "The Bone woman" will bein the game, i would love to see that!

Really cool that they are sticking to the lore.

Hmm, I suppose you're right in that sense though I think EQ2 had raid content, but we have to look past the storm of WoW clones (which AoC is showing an unfortunate resemblance to, just a wee bit) to the original MMOs. Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron's Call, Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asheron's Call 2 all had a large world with lots of raid content. They don't make um like they used to, too many money grubbing companies trying to recreate WoW.

Why wouldn't you want to make a game with 10 million subs?  You can veer off the course a bit sure, but the foundation for success has already been laid out.

vanguard and EQ2 LMAO????

ARE U REALLY BEING SERIUOS?

You think vanguard had any endgame at launch or even now, and EQ2 at lauch, newsflash, it took EQ2 2+ to fix the pile of crap that it was and still continues to be.

It doesn't have 10 million subs. Its a cooked number that counts every trial and canceled account. The real number is much smallter, read up on it.

But your right, from a business sense, why would I ever want to try anything different? I'll just try to copy what makes money. From a consumer standpoint, that sucks. We just get the same rehashed game system over and over. And that is, splified to the point of retardation, instant gratification, shallow, railroad freedomless MMOs with levels and classes and dungeons oh boy. The God there are still small time developers out there trying to make a game for the gamers and not the money.

True Love Never Dies

I'm curious if they accounted for the fact it takes a powerleveler with no knowledge of a game around 30 days to max out their level, and thats if they have a job or a wife to keep them from playing more than 8 hours a day.

If they assumed a guild of 50 people can powerlevel to 80 in a month, then i am impressed with their saying it will take 6 months to down the current main endboss.

It is either they forgot people without jobs level li
