Oh ye of too much faith. Lo these many years have ye reviled and belittled my prophocies. Verily did I proclaim to thee the truth of my vision. But ye cast me out, and ye doubted me, and ye would suffer not the ramblings of the one you deemed mad. Now let judgement decend upon ye, oh worshippers of false promises. Ahem...anyway, I said over and over again that this was going to be a game that revolves around PvE raiding. Some people probably believed me but others said over and over again that it couldn't possibly be true. Well there isn't much time left for them hide behind wishfull thinking and BS hype and vague statements by the devs. Here are a couple of snippets from recent IGN articles.
<<---If you want to get the best armor and weapons in Age of Conan, you're going to have to raid.--->> That's pretty self explanitory. However, people kept saying that crafted equipment would be on par with raid drops. Crafted equipment is the stuff you will use for PvP if you don't want to raid. Crafted equipment is so great because you can improve it with socketable gems. And I said, "Yeah, but guess where the best gems are going to come from. That's right, from PvE raids." To which people responded by cursing me, and my family, and all the generations of my decendants (ok so I exagerate a little). But all of the major fans around here refused to believe it. Well take a gander at this other little bit of information revealed at IGN: <<---And naturally, there'll be a range of gems as well. The best ones might only be dropped from raid targets deep into Age of Conan's end-game.--->> Hehehe, ahhhh....It's funny and depressing at the same time. Of course the fanatical fans will latch on to that word "might" and cling to it for all they're worth. Still refusing to understand that developers always try to word things in such a way that people can make it mean what they want it to mean. But time is almost up people. The last of the smoke and mirrors will fall away soon and you'll see that my crystal ball is, in fact, quite a good crystal ball after all. |

After first paragraph which i enjoy & also hinted to you having a personality kinda went down hill after that. Games are what you make it, not everyone has to have the Best Of The Best Gear so no for some PvE raiding is not essential so the game doesnt revolve around it or crafting, shouldnt think that everyone judges or has the same expectations as you or the small minority of this Forum. I can look into my crystal ball & say this game will be shit & to some i was right on & to others im talking crap, "told you so..'s" are lame man lol. |

You call that fun? AoC laid their eyes on raiding, and that will be the big part. Dont expect big PvP of it. No really don't . Yes I know what the devs said. |

LOL... so raiding is bad? every MMO i have played uses Raiding/instancing in some form or another. And every single one of them has that Uber item waiting in the wings. SWG- Just about any item worth getting is in area considered to be a raiding area/instance. Myself had to do about 70 NK-Necrosis runs just to get a Saber Crystal. WoW- talk about needing to raid..... Vanguard... Yeap more Raiding... EQ 2- um... i am starting to see a pattern. All the popular game/ or were popular have some form of raiding... So to see AoC doing it is just another part of your standard MMO function these days. granted i will say i dislike most raiding as it does get redundant, and irritating when your supposed to be recieving a drop and some a-hole takes it, when he clearly didn't mean to.. another Aspect is if these items are going to be tradeable or sellable... wich in turn will create a "gold selling" market. So take what you will. don't need a crystal ball to know games are going to place high end loot in raids/dungeons/instances. |

For people who like raiding it's not a problem. For people who don't like raiding it will be a problem. People who don't like raiding WILL be handicapped in PvP. People who don't like raiding WILL hit a brick wall in PvE. I've been involved in some huge debates about this over the past couple of years. Not so much lately because I got tired of arguing about something I couldn't prove. But, you know, when people tell you over and over again that you're stupid, lying, or just ignorant because of something you saw that they refused to see, and then it turns out that you were right after all; well yeah, I think a little bit of "I told you so" is justified. |

What do you people see in going to a raid instance with 40 others, waiting for mana or something to regenerate after each fight, and than finally reaching a boss that should be permanently dead after being killed by your guild 5000 times? So you can scream on ventrilo saying "FUCK YES WE KILLED A FUCKING MINDLESS NPC I'M SUCH A FUCKING UBER GOD!1111!ONEELEVENTYONE!"? Or do you somehow enjoy people in your guild arguing over who morally has the right to get the pixilated items? |

Originally posted by Neanderthal At pure face value your statement holds some credence, but in reality its very small minded, specially with all game this one with new combat system which in itself opens up smore possiblies to skill over gear situations, just because someone is standing toe2toe in max out gear and his opponent is standing there in average crafted gear doesnt mean Mr Raider is invincible..he could be a complete retard or crap at his class or simply been taken by surprise by some half nakid Assassin from behind, there is so many variable to take into consideration to say gear is the be & end of all is ridiculous , Advantage??? yes maybe in some scenarios in others? no he may die instantly from a nicely place dagger to the back of his head. |

By the way, this is directed most especially at Aelfinn and Sturmrabe. The two I remember best who argued with me the most forcefully. If you read this guys, no hard feelings or anything. But you'll remember our arguments. So, was I wrong? Do you still have faith in the convoluted, BS, damage controll the devs spewed about this way back when? |
