Okay, so I got my beta key, made an account on the AoC community site, and went to fileplanet to find myself the download for the open beta. Started downloading it... really unimpressed...

on average 150 kbs/s... I'm glad I'm not a regular paying subscriber. The only reason I got a beta key was because I won one of the 100 fileplanet subs that they were / are giving away at tentonhammer. Isn't this the reason why you would subscribe in the first place...? To get downloads at rates as high as your internet connection will allow? I am pretty darn sure my connection can take much more than 150 kbs / s...

so my question is if Funcom or any other site has an alternative site to download the entire file. I don't want to leave my computer running for 2 days just for this file. I know Funcom quickly made a downloader for the PvP weekend after gamestop screwed that one up, so I'm wanting to know if they did do / are going to do the same thing.

For the open beta fileplanet is the only place to download the client.

You should check your account info at Funcom's site. There is a link for Funcom's downloader, at least my Open Beta account shows a link to their downloader. I was downloading stuff at 500 to 600.

EDIT: are you sure that is for the open beta...? It says that the file is 7 gb's in size while the one over at fileplanet is 12 gb's.

that's odd, the only download options it has for me are for the pvp weekend, but I have an account for the open beta. Tried finding a link through google for the funcom downloader but no luck, other than the pvp weekend funcom downloader. Oh well, I'm probably just going to let this thing download for the next 24 hours since I don't need the internet for this comp and it's not till the 1st anyway... unlike the weekend beta, where we had such little time to download this thing lol...

if anyone can provide a solid link for the open beta funcom downloader I'd be forever grateful.

how come everyones getting slow download when i downloaded i was getting 1.3mb per sec

for some reason i dont see anything on the right side when i click on master account...

I guess it all depends on what kind of Open Beta Key you have.

I'm guessing Fileplanet users are forced to use Fileplanet Servers to download the client.

damn! that sucks. speed is not constant at all. it keeps going from 200-600 KB/sec

also, a question.

did fileplanet open registration to everyone or did i just happen to get lucky when i checked the site and got my key?
