If they want it to run on an XBox 360, it has to run on the machine the OP has.

Not really, the 360 wipes the floor with the OP's PC, the 360 essentially has an ATi Radeon HD2900XT and a 3Ghz triple core CPU.

Plus on the 360 it will be optimised for a standard system, not like the 100 variables they have to try and cater for with PCs.

The 360 is still more powerful then probably 70% of the PCs in common use right now.

There is one major problem here.

memory. The FC devs have stated they have no idea how the hell they're going to pull off the 360 client, due to the severe lack of memory.

Well if thats the case the Funcom devs aren't upto much then, there have already been working builds of Warhammer and WoW shown running on the 360.  Also if RAM were an issue, how the hell did Volition and Rockstar North get Saints Row and GTA IV running??...

Let me ask you something first, would you rather have shitty graphics but maximum clipping distance (view distance and object distance)? or would you rather have awesome graphics but minimum clipping distance (view distance and object distance)? because thats the difference, 360 has enough hardware to support one or the other, not both, all consoles besides the PS3 have major limitations, people that play consoles, especially GTA, are used to having a small clipping distance with less than suitable graphics, which may be why they dont complain. Watch how far you can see an object on a computer with max everything, as opposed to the xbox 360 with their set graphics, we're talking a 50yrd limit as opposed to a 1mile limit, and 50yrds in a video game is sorely overrated as a long distance, in reality the distance between you and another player standing side by side is about 1 yard on the ground, 3 ft in a video game is nothing, look how small their feet are, proportionally they can be assumed as 12inch shoes, that makes most blocks in a video game around 100yrds or equal to the length of a measured football field excluding the touchdown zones

You're playing on a system where the game graphics have been calibrated for best possible Performance, as opposed to best possible Quality on a computer.

I have both GTA IV and Saints Row on the 360 and the clipping distance is fine, and by the way games are not optimised for quality on the PC. They are not very optimised at all because of all the different hardwarre configuratiosn that need to be supported. I don't care if the platform is PS3, 360, or PC if a developer is prioritising quality before performance then they are making mistakes. Performance should always come first, when that is sorted then you can work on quality. Plus PC gamers and Console gamers will not be on the same servers so if the 360 has a shorter clipping distance then it won't matter because all the 360m players will have that short distance. Unlike on PC where people with high end rigs will have advantages over guys with low to mid range rigs bevause of the amount of features they can run like high clipping distances.

At the moment yes, Nvidia have the best performing cards. However i would steer clear of their nForce chipsets and SLi, the 680i and 780i are jokes. I have an Asus Striker Extreme and it's a buggy piece of shit, i replace it with an MSI P7 DIamond 780i and it doesn't work for shit either so i'm now going with an Asus Rampage Formula x48, it's Crossfire which means no SLi but hey atleast Intel chipsets are stable.

Compared to the 8 series, ATi's last two series of cards were pretty lacklustre (mainly due to lack of developer support) but apparently the 4 series is meant to be pretty good. It's forced Nvidia to accelerate the launch of their GT200 based chips, so hopefully we'll see a competetive Ati again whcih will mean good prices for both Nvidia and ATi users.

Thats what i call pathetic programing.

Your CPU blows. Upgrade it.

Get more RAM, at least a gigabyte more.

Upgrade your GPU; a 9600XT won't cut it.

No offensive, but most new games would run like garbage on your computer.. Don't point your finger at AoC go load up Supreme Commander 3v3 or 4v4 then come back.
