Ahh the good old days when this forum used to provide some insight – a little bit of info on the combat system, hey check out the Mammoth, ohhhh cool vid from Avery, etc. Enough that I’d come back every day or so to see what the latest morsel of info was.

Now? What’s the point? All there is are 20 page threads comparing AoC to WOW and statements of “If you play AoC you’re a girl!” That doesn’t even make any sense. You can go through here and count the threads: Fanboi, Fanboi, Troll, Fanboi, Fanboi, Troll, piece of Info regarding beta key…and repeat.

There are lots of sites that provide detailed information…wait for it…from people who have actually played the game…like from lvl 1 to 80!! Not just PvPed over a weekend or got their character to lvl 5. You want to know what it’s like to play a Barb from 1 to 80? Or how bout the best feat tree for Necro, that’s the kind of stuff that should be discussed on the forum. You’re going to hit me with the old NDA thingie right? Well bub, all this info is out there and with the game 2 weeks away, does anyone really care? I suggest to anyone who is truly interested in finding out if this is a game for them, google Conan Beta and see what leaks there are.

Last point – In our AoC forum we’ve received just a tiny taste of what the guys over on the Darkfall forum have to deal with day in and day out. My heart goes out to them because fans SHOULD have a place where they can discuss things about their game without idiots (read trolls) harassing them 24 x 7.

To all those who look forward to playing AoC, I hope it meets your every desire. To those who think its WOW2 and very ghay, I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Thats what main web sites are for, this is used to find out if a game is playable or not, when a game goes live is often used to ask minor questions. All Avery does is talk about features. The Deves are not gonna tell you the stuff you learn here !!!!

You forgot one important aspect this is a FORUM, a place of discussion it's no different then if you got thousands of gamers in the same room. The conversations would be the exact same thing, fights would burst out and someone would get their head stomped. At least here it's all virtual and no one gets hurt.

no worries, I will post a a my thoughts as soon as I get some, this client is just to big , they should of not packed the video in it.

How? How can you tell if this game is playable based on the info you read here? All you get is contradictory information from people that don’t explain themselves. One thread says it’s great the other says it sucks? “My load time was 5 minutes” vs “My load time is 8 seconds”. Dude, if that provides you the info you need then great but frankly I need more then that in order to understand what this game is like. Info that goes into each character build, how the feat trees work, is one class better a soloing then another…that’s the kind of info I’m after and it ain’t in here.  

  Trouble with fan sites is that they are heavily biased toward the game.  Sure, its great to get the "nice" info...but it doesn't provide you the dirty stuff as well usually.  You may think of this board as a flamefest...but through the poor communication skills presented there are massive nuggets of truth that any player would be interested in.

  For instance, you may not find complaints about the stability of the game important...but the guy with just a hair over minimum specs does.  He thinks he can play the game as well as he has any other on minimum.  He expects lag and hiccups...but doesn't expect massive crashes all the time.  For him, these threads are important because it provides him the information that he will either need to massively upgrade his system, or not play until they have had tons more time to optimize for minimum specs.  That "flamefest" provided exactly what the consumer in question needed to know.

  Also...I thought WAR was WoW2?  I made a remark once about how silly it was to call WAR WoW2 when most games use WoW stuff...and that AoC is a ton like WoW as well.  But, I never realized it was a catching thing.  I thought that the appropriate thing to call AoC was Guildwars2.

That stuff comes later iflost, as things are a mess right now, Good or Bad you have to admit things are a mess. And now people are trying to get things running, You will see changes in this or ANY Forum is about a year or so, so you will have to deal with it !!!

Like I say for now you have the main site, also be carefull what Avery gives us, yes he is right on all features but he is partial to Funcom on playability and he gives small little hints that things are just GREAT !!!

Most people would probably not agree with me on this one. 

But screw it, I'll say it anyways.

I think Age of Conan is more like Ultima Online than anything.  First off you have housing and cities you can destroy, which I think is a next step from the UO scene.  Plus, you can have vendors later on and sell things from your house?  lol, awesome, just like UO.

Then you have to think more than just concept.  The game is one of the only games that I can think of that is set in a fantasy world, with HUMANS only.  No elves or dwarves or gnomes.  The way the world is built just reminds me of how UO would have looked if it went 3d.  LOL, call me crazy.

Well, since Conan has been around longer, I guess it's safe to say that UO reminds me of conan, but since I played UO first I just put it that way.

I don't know, I might be the only one that gets this feeling, but I feel like this is what UO would have been if it did go 3d and had a new combat system.  Whatever, I like it.

there is no video in game.. stop whining even about big client .. noone forcing you to download.. if you can afford to play aoc you can afford any decent connection
