would be satiated if Funcom would openly address a few issues. I look around the forums, yes you have your haters and your fanbois, but there's a really large contingent of people, who are on the fence and wonder why Funcom is doing things the way they are. Especially why the use of an older, outdated client during a marketing period. The Devs over at Funcom haven't posted anything in 4 days, during a time when they have had a huge influx of people trying basically a "trial" of the game. A little communication during this turbulent period would really work wonders, and might actually help people understand the thought processes over some of moves made by Funcom, and give these same people confidence in buying the game. |

actually no....those answers other than the "things we are looking into" from 4 days ago really don't tell us anything. and the community PR guy doesn't code or do much coding, his job is to ensure information is kept flowing on the forums and other sources of information. Like i said...regarding the open beta, they have said almost nothing of interest regarding the technical issues or decisions made. |

Originally posted by miagisan Miagisan has a point. We are not expecting devs to beat the forums. We want them working the issues. My question would be where is the tech support team? This is their training time. Where are the CMs? Them communicating would go a very long ways towards PR. About the only mods you see on the official forums is Tahi locking threads on the night shift. There has to be more than one volunteer mod on the forums that can post that are not programmers. PR goes a long ways to keeping people happy. There have been many fanbois complaining about this very issue on the official forums as well. So please, don't think it is just trolls finding something else to complain about.

exactly Shannia, they have PR, Community Managers, Mods, and Tech Support people for a reason. Use them. A little knowledge to the general populace can go a long way to quench some of our questions. |

Originally posted by miagisan True. Because when you don't, that just makes people assume that you have nothing good to say, that all the flame trolls may actually have a valid point... the game is a mess and will take months to get it into any semblance of something that can yield more fun than frustration. I haven't cancelled my pre-order and plan on giving the game a fair shake at launch, but I'm not kidding myself either. This game is chock full of issues that can't possibly be fixed in two weeks. How can Funcom work on fixing bugs in an old build? Go check the official forums. They clearly state that they are patching the Closed Beta client with code from the OPEN BETA client to try and figure out the problems. Why would they do this for an old build? C'mon people. Use that stuff between your ears. There is no super sexy build that no one has seen. What you are seeing in OB is what it is. That's what you'll be getting when you open your retail box. Sure, there will be patches and some of the issues will be resolved with those patches, but if you expect a night and day difference between the game now and the game at launch, you'll be in for a rude awakening. I'm just hoping for enough of an improvement that I won't be tempted to sling my keyboard through the window in frustration. |

Totally agree with the OP, and I'm one of those on the fence about Funcom as well. I have a top end computer (quad processor, 4GB RAM, 8800GTX) and AoC is practically non-playable for me. I get a kick out of the people chastising people with similar computers as mine, saying "well, mine runs fine, obviously it's your problem". So every other game runs 100% perfectly on those systems, but because AoC doesn't, there is something wrong with the computer?? That's just nonsense. It would be nice if we get an official statement from Funcom saying, "yes, there are issues with X, Y, and Z. We will be addressing them in these final two weeks. Fear not". Because if I were forced to make a decision today, I would definitely not be purcahsing this at release, and at the very least will be waiting one or more months before I even consider it. Bugs have to be resolved and performance has to be drastically improved before I would lay my money down. |
