Hey, i recently got back into Planetside cause the veteran's program is allowing old players to play for free.

Well, the game will crash everytime i get into a heated battle, or if i fly wicked fast.

Specifications:

Windows XP SP3

Geforce 6600 GT

512 MB RAM

I tried deleting files, i tried SOE tech support but still have problems, please help me solve this!

Is it just Planetside crashing or your entire PC? If it's the PC then it's a heat problem if not then I suggest checking into the ram, 512 isn't that much. For all intents and purposes, Planetside is a RAM hungry game but it shouldn't crash like that.

Did you try e-mailing SOE support your DXDiag? If not type dxdiag in the run box and send it their way. I would say post it in the PS forums but it seems you can't post unless you're subscribed, and the free vet trial unfortunately doesn't seem to merit a real subscription.

From re-reading your post have you tried editing the draw distance to a much lower value. I know it's a handicap in game but it sure beats crashing.

If you're getting whiteouts and missing textures, many people with newer hardware seem to be having that...

The best option is to go into the graphics settings and reduce everything to the lowest level...Especially the preloaded textures....Turn all preloading OFF and you will likely see most anomalies end...

If I run preloading, full textures, I start dropping textures and seeing whited-out areas, then I hardlock, usually within minutes....But, with the preloading turned off and some of the graphical niceties cranked down a little, it seems to do okay, and I rarely have lockups or whiteouts or dropped textures...

The preloading settings are under the "Advanced" tab in graphics...You can set it for 64, 128, 256 meg, etc.....But set it as low as you can, it's where the problems with stability arise on newer hardware.

Hope this helps...It was unplayable for me until I stumbled across this advice.

Planetside crashes. Once it freezes it is very hard to get to the task manager. I used to be able to run planetside maxed out with the same hardware, so i am guessing something has to give. By the way, it is all graphical, i get white textures, missing buildings, locks up when i start to see white textures.

I used to have similar problems. WinXP SP2, Athlon 1800XP, GF 6600 GT in AGP4x, 756MB 333SDRAM... Planetside freezed every 30-60 minutes after some textures disapeared (better restart game immediately in that case). 1780MB RAM helped a lot but I still had freezes sometimes.

Now i have new hardware - one restart in last month. Try to borrow some compatible memory module and test stability then, it could help a bit.
