Yet more desperate tactics from a publisher whose senseless changing of skills has alienated most of those who actually enjoyed the game. If they are truly serious about promoting this mmo, they could start by rolling back the changes which have ruined the fun of playing the game and instead dedicate themselves to actually producing some real actual content. When I joined TR I thought I'd be there for years but after 1.7 I could take no more of their chaotic badly tested bull. Now playing POTBS which whilst less glossy to look at, in it's own way provides the pleasure in combat which has been robbed from TR. With lots more lovely mmo's due for release in the coming months, nothing short of divine intervention would get me to go back to the self-destructive chaos which is TR. |

Fine Print: Your friend's account must be inactive for at least 90 days in order to be eligible. An indication that their account has been inactive for 90+ days will be displayed on their game account management screen.

It's frustrating really. I've been wanting to try this game for about 4 months now, but they don't offer a general free trial (like they should) and I don't know anyone who plays. Any attempt I have made to ask for a trial key has always been completely ignored, and it seems that on all the forums online there are about 6-7 times more people asking for a trial key then there are trial keys to give out. So with that in mind, shouldn't they be more worried about bringing new people in then trying to get back the people that tried it, didn't like it, and left? I just don't want to buy this game before I know if I will like it or not. But it looks good, and looks sufficient to give me something to do outside of WoW raid nights. But the way this system is set up, I foresee probably many more months before I get to play >.< |

I usually do not hand out trial keys for TR unless the person posting has a lot of posts. A person with 1 or 2 posts I will pass over, and I'm sure I've lost potential free months from real people really wanting to try the game. Another thing is it takes so damn long for new keys to become available. Think it is like a month and a half. Currently all my trial keys are out. I agree with your post. There should be a better way to check out this game.

Well I have come to the conclusion that nobody really plays Tabula Rasa. I post on several different gaming forums regularly, and not a single person on them plays TR. So if I want to request a trial key I am forced to go to forums I don't normally frequent. But due to the fact that I post on several different gaming forums where no one plays TR, that just tells me that the playerbase is really small. The easiest explanation for that is that the game just simply sucks and isn't worth playing. But I don't judge things without experiencing them myself. So I feel that they have a terrible marketing scheme here. Due to out of all the people I know online amongst forums (as well as all the people I know in real life), no one plays Tabula Rasa, I've come to the conclusion that hardly anybody at all plays. The player base must be really small. Does it not occur to them that the reason for this probably has to do with the fact that they have no REAL trial? I played the free trial of FFXI and I loved it for nearly 5 years. I played the trial for WoW and I am now a heavy raider. I played the free trial for Guild Wars and hated it (glad I didn't waste any money on a full game I would never play). I WANT to give Tabula Rasa a try, but it seems the only real free trial for it is to go to Wal-Mart, slip it under your coat on as crowded Saturday, and walk out with it. Without giving people a chance to try the game without risk, they are losing potential for a strong player base, and therefore are dooming themselves for failure in the long run. I understand the fact that people are weary to give new posters trial keys, due to the RMT issue, but the fact that I have thousands of posts on other forums and NO ONE plays, I'll probably never get one. This is NOT the legit players' fault, this is the company's fault. This would all be solved with a general 3 day trial offered to anyone who wants to give it a try. |

LAWLZ this smacks of sheer desperation and if they think that anyone who has been gone for 3 months is going to like the massivly swinging changes to the barren skill tree and resub - they are smoking better boo than I am ITMMO: Devs doing it wrong |

Originally posted by abhaigh That's one thing I was trying to point out here. What's the point in trying to get back the players that didn't like it? You already know they didn't enjoy the game, that's why they left! Time to move on to a new customer. Oh, but apparently NCSoft doesn't do that. They aren't interested in new players. So they changed the game so much that I hear it's practically a different game now? They think this is going to better the chance that old players who left will want to come back? Then take away the 3 month min limitation.
I just don't understand what they are doing in that sense. |
