Gonna be upgrading my PC's around in a few months so I can play AoC. So I need to know what system specs are required to play this game at mostly high settings without risk of lag in congested areas. Thanks.

Well.  I have a 2.66ghz Core2Duo OC'd at 3.2, 8gigs of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, and a a 9800GTX OC'd to 800/2000/1200.

With that, I can run 4x AA with everything maxed out completely, minus bloom effects.. at about 30-45 outside and 20-30 in a city.  This is on a NEC 24" that runs at 1920x1200 resolution.  So, if you were to play the game at say, 1600x1200.. you'd see your FPS gain about 5-6 frames from my marks.

This is what I consider bare minimum to run a game on max settings.. so yes, I'll either be getting a second 9800GTX or wait for the 9900's to release and deal with what I have for now (most likely option).

I run settings maxed out and have bloom enabled, anti-aliasing at 2x, audio at highest settings as well. I am running a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core with 3.2ghz, 2gb of DDR2 800 RAM, a 8800GT 512 video card. I average around 30-50FPS in or out of a city.

Seems the AoC engine just sort of picks who it wants. You have people with 8800gts running max setting and then you have people with same card crashing and lagging on medium setting.

An expert is a man that has made all mistakes possible in a narrow field of expertise.

Tis sad the specs are so high for this game to be played at an enjoyable level.  My 8800GTS  w/512mb video card won't make up the processor horsepower I lack soooo no AOC for me.

Here is a nice link for checking your system.

OMG thats a huge rip-off, my system was only $800, and my 22" widescreen monitor was $269. $1100 for a system that runs the game fine on highest settings..

I just checked but I could build that same exact thing for about $2500.

Q6600(Intel Quad)2,4Ghz@3,2Ghz, 4GB DDR2(PC6400), Ati HD3870x2 1GB, 10k rpm raptor.

Running Aoc @ everything on Max with 8x AA 1680x.. with around 60fps. Haven't tried any massive pvp thou so might have to turn the settings down alittle for that.
