Failure to communicate.

Maybe my problem is that I've had the majority of my play time during the day time, and rarely peak hours, but the game is very boring so far.

I've leveled to 10 andjust feel like I'm getting nowhere. Everywhere I go is "go to this part of the shire (oh yea I rolled a hobbit) and talk to 'x' for 'x' reward." 'X' usually sends me somewhere else until I finally finish the quest arc, and I solo everything. EVERYTHING. Even during peak hours I can't find a group. I have a few quests that require a fellowship and there is just no one willing to do it.

Does everyone solo at low levels? Am I missing something? Should I get to a certain level to really pick up steam?

Like the thread title says, I want to enjoy it so badly, but so far no dice.

I order my groceries online.

There is a lot of soloing in the early levels. By the time you get to mid 20s you'll have more fellowship quests than you'll know what to do with. Getting in a good kinship will help with getting fellowships for things.

You will get a lot of responses telling you to join a clan or change servers. However you maybe suffering from, what many who have played the game a lot longer but still have the same feeling, boredom.

"I really want to love this game but something is missing and I can not put my finger on it"

I do not remember a game that so many have responded in this way to. No one really seems to trash the game. Many like me who left still defend the game but it still fell flat. One lacking element that is mentioned a lot is lack of sandbox. So many want to live in Middle Earth and even with housing you never feel like you live there. As a Tolkien fan the lore brought me in but that is not enough to keep me and many others. They did a lot right with LoTRO but for many that was simply not enough. For me it never had that elusive feeling of atmosphere. That is something EQ2 really does for me. Even though EQ2 has more flaws then LoTRO it presents wonderful atmosphere. I really feel like it is a living world. LoTRO has much better landscapes but EQ2's seem living.

I agree. There are many games I could list and bash, but I wouldn't bash LoTRO. It just does nothing for me with where I'm at currently in the game. It's a beautiful game and offers a ton, but it's just very boring and I feel like I'm wasting more time playing it than any other game.

Unfortunately there is no forced grouping until the very end of the game at lvl 50 if u plan to raid or PvP!  I recently have been playing an alt and so far have gotten her to lvl 40 without doing any of the fellowship quests unless there were others in the area and they asked me to join or I came back before it turned grey and was several lvls higher than it.

The game is fun and the story is great but the entire game can be solo'd and quite fast....everything u do will be go kill X, bring it back to Y or deliver it to W and return to Y, then go off to V to let him know that Z was killed then once again return to Y and tell him too!  Tons and tons of running around all the time which does get annoying after awhile!

I still play it some to chat with friends and trying to complete fishing, since I have paid time until Oct 19th!  However my time atm is being spent in FFXI and this game is fullfilling my desires for combat and overall enjoyment.  Not sure if you've ever played it, but u don't do quests for XP, u have to earn every bit from killing mobs for the most part or much later in the game participating in daily server events.  Nor does any mob but beastmen type ever drop money{gil} u have to earn urself through crafting or selling the mob drops to other player via the AH or ur personal bazaar.

Anyway check out FFXI if u tire of having ur hand held.  In FFXI once the opening cutscene is over they cut u lose with 10gil and  a weak weapon donning tattered clothes and don't even wish u goodluck!

When WoW came out it was the most solo friendly and fastest fantasy MMO on the shelves.

It seems that Turbine knots some of the success WoW had to this architecture.

So they made again the most solo friendly and fastest MMO on the shelves and wait for the success.

In LOTRO you dont have to group up to 40+ even there its alot of solo content now with new books released.

The funny part is that more solo content causes more people who dont have a clue about their group skills, ruining PUG fellowships regularly and causing the victims there to demand more solo content again because in PUG's they find so many idiots who dont know their class'es group abilities. So people suffering from this effect become soloers often. Joining the club in the long run.

Actually LOTRO isnt a MMO but a MSO. (Massive Singleplayer Onlinegame)

Played FFXI for over a year. Was actually going to go back but figured I'd give LoTRO a try first. Guess it's back to Juno I go.

the way i personally view lord of the rings is that its a nice game to play for the odd month now and again when your bored of your regular mmo ( i feel the same way about city of heroes as well ) . what i think it lacks is that sence of excitment and immersion you get with games like warcraft . it lacks having two opposing factions ( monsterplay aside ) . i would ve loved to play a warg or orc from level 1 and been able to invest some time in the character . maybe raid bree :P . it also lacks the fun of the battlegrounds . i do appreciate that they are sticking to the tolkien books so what happens needs to fall within that storyline . unfortunatly this is something i thinks more suited to single player games . my feeling is that a middle earth online set in a time prior to the events in lord of the rings would have been a far superior and far more popular mmo .
