Basically looking for a group-oriented game.

Things I'd look in the game: Combat-wise player skills in actual gaming should matter over gear or at least have a shot against stronger gear. Gear still has to be kind of important (twinking is something very needed). Graphics-wise something like Rappelz. Skill-system has to be very customizable, double-classes are probably the best option (Where you could choose a primary class and a secondary one or half of one primary and half of another). WASD movement.

What my friend looks in the game: Cute things to kill and if possible vampires (to play or kill). Less of a grind-fest.

What I have played: Rappelz, Anarchy Online, Wow, Cabal Online, 9 Dragons, Helbreath, Shaiya, Ashen Empires, Priston Tale. That's all I can remember for now...

What the friend has played: Rose Online, Fairyland Online

What we are playing together: Astonia

Bump? And not all the things I'm looking for in the game need to be met. So I'm not that picky, but suggest something.

If you want group play. Then you want FFXI(Final Fantasy). You only have to level for perhaps your first 10 levels or so(Familiarize yourself with the characters. But then most of the leveling is done in a group setting.

OMG! Ponies!

You could try Guild Wars. You can group everything/solo everything by hiring NPC henchmen depending on your mood.

--------
Playing: Guild Wars, City of Heroes
Contemplating: Everquest II, The Lord of the Rings Online, Vanguard
Anticipating: Aion, Chronicles of Spellborn, Guild Wars 2, Stargate Worlds, The Saga of Ryzom, Warhammer

Guild Wars definitely is what you might be looking for. Tons of skills for each of the classes. You choose a main class and then later a secondary class. Its F2P after you have bought the game, which is pretty cheap now for the game and 2 of the 3 expansions.
