If you are actually launching a game in 6 months and have a full featured MMORPG (as they say)  then you would at least know exactly when you were having a Beta considering they've also said they could hold a Beta tomorrow if they wanted to..

Don't forget the dev log, everything is pending an official announcement.  All the fanbois can always fall back on us and say, well, no official announcement came so the dev in the dev journal was still right.  No matter what, we are wrong.

Well I have to agree with others in this thread and say that without an exact release date this announcement should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm not saying that it won't release in 2008 just that no one should hold their breath waiting for it given Aventurine's past record with release dates and beta dates. Only time will tell at this point and even though I remain hopeful that they are telling the truth this time I'm not ready to bet any money on it either.

Official without a specific date on release or open beta/preview/etc is just a rumor.  We need specifics or it just doesn't hold water.  Just another rumor in the long list of dates come and gone in the rumor control world of the mmorpg genre.

Well it's official for "inside of 2008" based on the word of Tasos. Not that his word holds much weight but if it DOESN'T happen , it will be there in writing and it will also be the final nail in the coffin of Darkfall Online.

Another missed Beta and release this game cannot afford.

2008 is the last stand of Darkfall Online.

Usually I'm a Darkfall naysayer, but I disagree with a lot you say...

Just because a game says going for the release of 2008 does NOT mean that they need to put out an official release date.   Games do not put out the official release date until it is getting close to the release...We can tell from what they are saying that the game will be released Q3 or Q4.  I have not seen one game that has just flat out stated the release date right when saying they are going for a 2008 release.  That would be foolish, and many bad things can pop up in development, holding them back.

So instead of just saying the release date, they will say Q3 or Q4.  Nothing wrong with that.

See, they are a Greek company.  We have no clue what their company financials are like.  They could say they are releasing Q4 2008, but their Q1 Financials don't start until 1 December 2008.  So they could launch November 30, 2009 and still be technically correct that they are launching in 2008.  Don't you just love how companies can play word games?  What 2008 means to a gamer isn't the same thing what 2008 means to a company.

If they say release within 2008, they better release it until 31 dec 2008. If not, then its just another big fat sentence accumulated in their history logbooks
You must be confusing fiscal years with calendar ones, but this has nothing to do with fiscal years
