after reading through these forums it has become very clear to me that the age of conan beta has some major problems when it comes to working on the significant percentage of mid range machines . i ve also spoken to many people who are in the beta that i know personally and every single one of them report preformance issues with both the open and closed beta clients .

inspite of what you might read not one single person in these forums knows for certain weather the release client will be a vast improvement on the beta .

personally i ve cancelled my preorder because i ve heard enough to wonder weather the release client will play on my mid range system or not . i m not going to say weather i m in the beta or not because of the nda ( you can draw you own conclusions ;) )

i want to like this game . i m sure most of you out there feel the same way . but i think before i spend my hard earned bucks on it i need a free trial so i can see what the actual release client is like .

so given the beta is undeniably making a lot of gamers think twice . does funcom need to offer a free trial sometime over the course of the summer ?

i have a feeling its relative success or faliure is now dependant on one .

Forum Poll

do you require a free trial before buying ???

yes
no

Whats wrong with personal opinion lol if he/she doesn t like it and cancels to save some cash and do a wait and see approach? I m doing the same, but enjoying WAR beta too much.

And yes, the retail client is on my computer actually, is it is for a few others as well by now (about 10k of us):

Welcome to the Age of Conan Early Access Program!

You've chosen to be among the select few who can venture into Hyboria to carve out your destiny and establish your name before the masses arrive.

To start your journey you will first have to download and install the client available at https://register.ageofconan.com/ with your account xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Once installed the client can be patched to the latest version from May 14th, so that you're fully prepared to start your journey.

The gates to Hyboria will open on May 17th.

Welcome to Hyboria!

Regards,
Funcom

Yes, it is different from the other clients to a degree, however its not the client that is the cause of the issues, it is people systems and there inability to properly diagnose and account for problems within said system, in order to ensure a quality gaming experience.

Then theres the "I don't want/cant afford to upgrade" group, kiddies playing on 4 year old systems crying about poor performance, unable to tell why there little computer that rocked World of Warcraft with no problems can barely pull 10fps on AoC.

In the end, the problem is pretty easily narrowed down to nothing but user error/accountability,

Have fun grinding honor and rep in WoW, I'll stick to something a little more adult.

A.K.A
Sinhealer

Yep will also call BS on the OP.

If you need a trail then just bother someone for a buddy pass when the game is live no need to start a pointless poll on the subject,Also you really contradicted yourself so many time's in your OP that it did make me smile so thanks for that.

If you've played beta, then you know what the game is going to be like.  As everyone seems to say, it's going to be a rough launch for AoC.  For a variety of reasons.  So many so, that you just might get your free trial sooner than you think...
