I mean, if you played AO at release you would know that this same thing happened at that release. The most forums I go to I see people complaining about lag and frame rates, but this is natural for FC apparently. If you played AO at it's release, you will know that this will be sorted ASAP :) |

I just put in another 4 hours in the closed beta and I have no idea what you're talking about. The game is running smoother than ever and there's no lag to speak about. In fact I downloaded a new client yesternight. It was too late for me try it out so when I logged in today I was pleasantly surprised - again - over the optimization they had done. I even turned on AA today and it ran better than ever, despite more eyecandy turned on. Servers are running great. You have no clue what you're talking about. You say bad servers are natural for Funcom? Well both WoW and LoTRO had several days of downtime the first month after release (EU-servers, I don't know how they did in the US). Funcom lost millions when they released Anarchy Online. They got good reviews, but reviewers said in unison that they had lowered it's score based on unstable servers. It's strange how people seems to rationalize that because Funcom had one launch that didn't go painless, then that's the norm for all eternity. In fact the failed AO launch is the gurrantor that AoC will fare much better. Funcom makes games for profit, not to annoy customers. It's almost like people think Funcom didn't learn anything from years of experience in the MMO-business.

(I dropped the view distance down, the aa down, and the shadows set to mine only).
My specs:
AMD 64 X2 4200+ 4 gigs of PC6400 Ram 8800GTS (g92 version) 512MB card Vista 64 Bit Home Premium 7200 SATA Harddrive. |

It's not about whether they want to annoy the customer or not - it is however easy to see AoC could easily use 3-4 more development months. That they still release (with no direct rivalry from other games unless you'd count Hello Kitty Online ^_^) means that most probably they're running low on funds. So they have to accept releasing an instable game with a lot of rough edges to support further development. Nothing they can do about it, however this did kill a bunch of games already, the most extreme (and most sad) example is Vanguard, which had insanely well thought-out classes and setups, and nothing else. |

What lag/frame issues? Buy a computer made in this decade. I have run this game on 3 different machines without any problems. |

Originally posted by KnThrakI don't think it needs another 3-4 months of development time and I am a WAR fan. Have been since the game was announced and loved DAoC. I consider Mythic to be tied for the number 1 MMO developer (with Turbine I might add) and I still consider the game to be well made. Also I doubt they have run out of money. Turbine has gotten a ton of funding and I am sure that Funcom has been able to raise money as well. Anytime you have a successful MMO that is still running it gives you the ability to get investment capital. Which even though AO wasn't a huge success at release it is still active 7 years later. |

Originally posted by weslubow You are in the small minority. A game like this is going to cause a lot of framerate issues. And you know what the people over at Vanguard said when people couldn't play the game due to the framerate? "Get a new PC". Yeah. That worked. Stop being so elitist, cause if you actually read up on the problems of your already failing game, then you'd realize a lot of high end machines are having trouble running it too. |
