What do you guys think about the recent podcast talking about banners?  I felt that it was a pretty sweet addition to RvR.  Seems like there will be a great deal of tactics to consider while in RvR.  Well done WAR....

I am looking forward to seeying the "flourish" knockback ability in a video. It adds an entirely new level to RvR when you can knock your enemies back. Imagine the possibilities when defending a keep with high walls, or keeping melee fighters off of your ranged casters and healers.

...at the gettin'' place...

I think the banner mechanic is really cool.  It is the little details that make a game great.

As opposed to flaming other games in threads, I was curious what people think will happen when guilds working together to take a keep race to be the first one to plant their banner?

Are you worried about keep-flipping and such, or do you think there will be a good mechanic to foil this.

mmmmm. burning oil....

Guilds claiming keeps wasn't much of a problem in Dark Age of Camelot. Keep possession changed very frequently, and due to the fact that the realm was more important than a guild, there was little arguement.

You were in the fight to have to keep changed to the "Realm of Hibernia."

Not to have a debate over whether the  "Meen Keen Killin Macheens" or the "Legion of Shroom" should be in control of the keep so that they can toss some silly banners upon the walls.

Why So Serious?

Considering their worth to the entire realm..and their size..unless a guild pretty much has the entire Realm in its ranks..it'll take everyone to protect and keep the Fortresses at Tier 4.    They're basically entire cities of their own from the video shots they showed lol.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

*shivers* Legion of Shroom? Damn animists! No offense

I too like this new banner mechanic. Seems like a good idea, lets hope it's not too overpowered or whatever. But since what powers it have will reflect how much work you do for the guild, I guess people don't have the right to complain if their banner isn't as strong.

wow...after watching info about guilds and banners, i think i might have found the game for me. Though i must admit, the graphics i have seen so far arent that mind blowing, but i will take good game play over eye candy any day.  (I have onnly seen beta footage...which i heard is not 100% done...especially lighting).

I love the idea of the guild/banner system....since me and my guild are really close and tight knit. Makes it seem like more of an accomplishment. Might have to make a push for this game on my guild forums lol.....would be a nice game for all of us (imho) to get all together into..since we got spread out since SWG:NGE

Why must we as gamers bring real life into the games we play?

heya,

The best part is even if some of us are not in a guild we can still help defend and attack the keeps.

I'm going to have a lot of fun stealing as many banners as I can, hehe

It is not the steel in your hand that makes you strong but the steel in your soul

yeah i can only imagion the looks you draw if you run into a town with a banner if your not in a guild...

i hope  it'll take a bit skill being the banner carrier because i doubt anyone would want to just stand there and occasionly knock back some people (let's hope it doesn't come down to: guildleader: "hey mike it's your turn to carry the flag", mike: "ah please can't someone else do it?")

lol that's what I was thinking as well, but I feel that controlling the banner will actually be quite fun.
