Early on in Beta I was reading some guild's webpage. They were looking for someone willing to take up master crafting. From what I recall, we get talents for our classes. And one option was non-combat that would allow you to master all crafting classes instead of just one. This talent line would somewhat weaken your toon as you wouldnt be choosing combat talents. However it would be invaluable to building a guild's towns and defending it. Anyway, I looked on the funcom website the past few nights as I just pre-ordered the game. I see no mention of this master craftsmen thing nor any mention of talents to make your toon unique. Was this stuff removed ? I kinda wanna go hardcore crafting to make myself sought by guilds |

Oh dang. I was looking forward to it. So is there a talent system in place so I can specialize my toon a bit ? I really dont like being the same cookie-cutter class / skill as everyone else. I will usually purposely pick the least popular class and / or talent spec and run with it. (unless its completely unworkable) |

If I understand the basis of your question Riker, things are a little different then what you are perceiving them to be. The crafting you pick and the points you get for feat trees are completely separate things. You can put points into your skills like climbing and perception but that is a separate pool from both your feat points and what you pick for crafting. Each character can have one type of crafting; Weaponsmithing, Armorsmithing, Alchemy, Architecture, or Gemcutting. There are several types of resource gathering abilities that go along with crafting, one character can master all of them. If I read the website correctly, it sounds like you “level” your crafting by completing quests instead repeatedly using the skill like many MMOs do. Link to crafting from AoC website. community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi Link that lets you test out feat tree choices from a fan site. |

Originally posted by admriker4 The talent system, feats, is pretty good. There are 2 class specific trees and a smaller 3rd tree that's shared with all classes in the same archtype. Each class specific tree has two feats at the bottom and you get enough points to either take both bottom talents in a tree, or take 1 of the bottom talents and still go pretty deep into one of the other trees. Additionally, there are also skills, hiding, perception, climbing, mana regen, mana tap (returns a bit of mana everytime you nuke something), bandaging, concentration, and the interface looked like there was room for some others, maybe get those later? These of course being the caster skills, I didn't play melee much so I'm not sure what kinds of skills they get. We'll have some options when it comes to customizing our characters. |
