There was a thread on this a week or so ago and nobody could come to a conclusion.

I played OB, and did not notice any instancing.. meaning more then 1 copy of the same zone. So if my friend is in X and says some here, and I zone into X.. theres a chance I won't get thrown into his "instance" of the zone if there are too many people already there.

Tortage, being the noob zone till 20 very well may be instanced(as it was meant to be single player anyway, sortve like a tutorial), which would be fine in my book. But instances in the world would suck.

Again, this isn't refering to ZONING into a zone. It's refering to their being more then one copy of the same zone on the same server.

Now that early access is up and going, can anyone confirm/deny this?

When the population of a zone fills up to the maximum capacity, another instance of the same zone will be created for subsquent people that zone in. If you wish to enter another copy of the same zone, there is a command that allows you to do so.

For some, this is game-breaking because it takes away a bit of the immersion.

For others, it's not much of an issue because this allows Funcom to add more pixels making the game "prettier" for them.

It's all about your preferences really.

I'll be happy as long as it doesn't end up being like EQII where the game world is so small and instanced that it only takes 10-20 minutes to run across it.

They have instanced zones like in EQ2? God... this is not even an MMORPG.

Umm..You realize that their will be more than you in each instance? You wont be alone. Not that big of a deal.

 

I played CB for a month and never realized I was being instanced until I saw a thread about it. Does not kill emersion at all. Still plenty of topless characters around to interact with.

It'll probably be more of an issue after launch because you know, there's gonna be much more people playing than in CB and that's when the instancing really kicks in.
