I love the FFA PvP, and yes ive been ganked alot in EA hehe, but i don't really mind. But then again im an UO player also hehe.

But i think we can al agree about the "screen-load-camping" needs to be fixed.

And maybe to make it a bit fair for people that instance jump would be to only let the people attacked able to do so. If you attack someone else you can't not do it for 1 min. or so.

I got so much
trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose.

Only way to create meaningful FFA PVP is to give players a tool to punish griefers.

So far AOC has probably the worst PVP ruleset ever to grace MMO. Heck , it is even more primitive than Unreal Tournament  deathmach.

Griefer can camp respawn points , quest givers , quest points , loading points - get many sweet kills. And the worse thing players can do to punish you, is to kill you.

That is 10:1 kill:punish ratio , no mater how you look at it , its a great deal for griefer.

Only way to make FFA work , is to make death hurt. But that is might to hardcore.

Thats why smart people from NC soft implemented great system in LINEAGE2.

Short time after griefing , player is marked RED. Which means whoever kills him , can fully loot his body.

In L2 it is not uncommon for whole servers to hunt such RED griefers all over.

If this system could be implemented in AOC, it would quickly solve all the problems.

But i guess it is above FC programming skills

Wanted to play a good MMORPG since 2004...still waiting...

Sorry if someone said this but im lazy to read everything.

Its honestly a simple fix......When you are in combat you cannot change instances, and when you enter an instance you can't be attacked for say...20 sec idk.

This is why PvP always fails in MMO games.  If there are rules the kids cry; if there are no rules, same.

It never works.  Because societies fail under chaos.  MMOs are mini civilizations and require at least some rudimentary laws.  There isn't any way to do this... so all the gaming companies can do it try for the rediculous pipe-dream of balance through nerfing.

What ends up happening is that the 90% of the people playing the game stay away from PvP yet get beaten to death with nerfs that have nothing to do with their game mechanics.

This will never be solved as long as there is the console monkey / single player immortality / infinite lives design methodology.  When you can just respawn no matter what, why should it matter if you happen to die, or become KOS everywhere in the game.

Until MMOs start to have perma-death, there will always be this mindless mentality to PvP.  When a character can die for real, then players will start to treat their characters like their lives mean something.  Only then can real meaningful PvP with objectives that make sense be developed.

Damn, this is what I hate about AoC, every NEW detail I find out about it makes me like it less. It's like everything that was fun and good was shown in the PR material and everything (ok, almost everything) else that comes from people who played it is a bigger and bigger letdown.

People will complain, it's human nature. Launch went fine, no game-breaking bugs, lvl20 onwards seems polished enough till now, game play is fun etc.

The most important stuff are going well, that's the thing that matters. Now while I agree PvP servers need tweaking, I don't doubt they will get it right, can't guess when because the devs have a lot on their hands atm.

There is a penalty... guilds will form.. people will join said guilds for protection.. griefers will be called out and killed at hunting grounds and quest areas.... what more could you ask for other than looting? Full looting is a stupid idea.. partial looting would be ok except it would benefit the griefer.. the fact that you are even complaining about griefers when you don't lose anything to the in the first place is kind've odd

Get some friends or allies and put the griefers down .. your close minded response to these things are why you need to stay on a PvE server

"get many sweet kills" that doesn't benefit the killer other than making people pissed off enough to group up and deny hunting spots

c'mon now

It is more likely that with the gamers today that no one would play the game, at least not enough to keep it afloat if it was permadeath.

If there is full loot (although I do not think full loot would actually work in this game, from what I understand gear is importent in this game so it would not make sense to be able to lose it so easily).

Or if items could get destroyed after losing to much durability from death either from PvE or PvP people would be much more careful. The PvP and I would suspect the PvE content as well, would fill that much more enjoyable if you are risking more than just your time doing it.

It would also have the effect of making the player economy more meaningful since people would be mass making popular crafting sets for other players to use.

The only downside I can really see from durability and items being destroyed is pick up groups being rare, as I would expect most would want to stick to guild runs to avoid needlessly dying.

Btw FFA PvP is not lazy development. You need a lot of systems in place to m
