Ok so i havn't played GW in years, in fact i bought the game at launch played for a few months than got side tracked. I've never bought any of the expansions all i have is the original game.

What i want to do is try to unlock the monument things in prep for gw2. So will all i need is Eyes of the North and than i will be able to unlock all the monuments for a future gw2 character?

If i skip all the other expansions and just go straight from the original to eyes of the north will i be anything major?

Am i going to find myself in a guild and then they will ask me to go on some mission from a different expansion that i don't have or are most guilds playing with eyes of the north content right now?

Also, is it even a good idea for someone in my situation to only buy the eyes of the north expansion....is this even possible...do other people do this??

Will i be handicapping myself in pvp by avoiding the other expansions or does eyes of north have the most powerful skills atm?

Basically the monuments allow you to preserve achievements obtained through all of the Guild Wars campaigns and "take them along" with you to Guild Wars 2. You will be able to create monuments from various items from Guild Wars Prophecies (original) and Eye of the North, but will obviously not be able to create monuments out of items from Factions and Nightfall, unless you buy items from other people for example and create monuments out of those.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "will you be anything major," but I can assure you that Factions and Nightfall aren't needed. They are highly recommended however. Each adds two new professions, a new continent and loads of skills to the game. They do not add any new levels, meaning that the cap is still 20. Remember...levels don't matter so reaching the cap in no way means you've finished the game.

That brings me to the point of PvP. In order to play it, you're going to need to own all of the campaigns. Eye of the North's skills aren't generally considered to be of as much worth as skills from the other campaigns, minus a few.

Many people do only own Prophecies and Eye of the North. It all depends on what type of gamer you are. My suggestion to you would be to purchase Eye of the North, play through it's campaign then see if you want to purchase Factions and/or Nightfall at a later stage. The first being very PvP-oriented and Nightfall being PvE oriented. You'll probably be saving yourself some sweat in the long run anyway, considering you played Guild Wars quite a while and as a result will most likely need to learn how to play the game again (quite a few changes have been made over the years).

Good luck and hope to see you in-game. By the way...you may find some pretty good box-set deals out there, so keep an eye out for them!
