Just picked up game and while it was installing, just wondering how long does it take to complete the tuturial part.  Approx.

The tutorial lasts 30 seconds.

Honestly once you're lvl 18 you're really really close, it varies from person to person, and if u do all the quests  on the island or just go thru the destiny quests.

Depends on how much you play.. Could be done in a matter of hours, or 1-2 days.

Most people consider the tutorial being 1-20 and that is a silly comment.  The tutorial if you want to really milk it out is 1-5 and Funcom basically does that to teach the person how the game is played.  Later on it was mentioned that they will allow you to avoid the 1-5 level range if you want, but you will still be in Tortage untill 20.  But seriously the tutorial itself is really only 30 seconds in the begining, and the game is very easy to pick up and run with.  If you have any problems in game Im on PVE SET Under Zoki, throw me a message and I can help you out.

Hmm perhaps I should have phrased it "how long does it take to lvl up to 20."  Reason I said tutorial is reading the forums it seems most people consider 1-20 a tutorial.  The title of topic does say 1-18 :P

easiest way to get from 1-18 fast, is just do the night missions untill you cannot do them anymore, those quests give the best exp for your level, since they are all based on your level you wont have a difficult time with it.  Daytime quests (multiplayer) can vary in difficulty and time because the level ranges of the mobs vary depending on where you go.  Once you hit 18ish it wont take much longer before your out of the island.
