I guess people would rather lag all over the place, fight others over the same spawn point, instead of haveing the option not to.  Though people would probably bitch about that too.

More loading zones is a trade off for the quality of the graghics.  Vanguard was one large world and look what happened at launch.  Even after 6 months 6 players near each other would lag the hell out of it.  Even with a decent rig.  Once technology catches up we can have AoC graghics with one world but until then this is the trade off.   I saw this in Tabula Rasa and at first I thought it was strange but quite quickly I got used to it.  Not that hard to just change 'zones' so you are on the same one.

but that does kill the immersion, i liked wow where its very wide open. man i hope i havent wasted my money. i didnt think it would be this bad. like darksix said its much more immersive if all the people were in the same instance in the same area so if you gank someone they will always be able to get back at you at the same location. it just feels more realistic that way.

Few men are born brave. Many become so through training and force of discipline.

This is much better than fighting the campers on the high value drops. I can remember fighting large groups on SWG, and never being able to get in.  Yes, it's not like the real world, but we aren't in the real world, and it was developed this way to make the hunting grounds open to all to experience regardless if your a large group player, or a solo player. This gives equal game play and rewards to all no matter what style of gamer you are.  I may not like it, but I will when I'm trying to gain that rare loot drop.. something to ponder..

why couldn't funcom copy FFXI instanceing system ._.

Keep it instanced and keep it open world = /, lessen loads on servers and on computers, just make sure to keep load times small ;)

It is NOT that bad, some of the people here are known to fuss about nothing.

The instance only copies itself every time it's full, so you will always be around loads of people. So it goes without saying that the bigger the zone, the less instancing. After lvl20 the zones are huge and you won't even notice the instancing.

It is not nearly as bad as some people are claiming.

I would just like to point out that even in Warcack you are zoning. Just because you dont see the shimmering portals on the borders of the zones, or the buildings, doesnt mean youre not. Blizzard was just smart enough to make the world look like there wasnt any zoning.

And who cares if you zone alot? Unless youre on an old computer that make the game lag alot... and then even I wouldnt play it. >.> Sure I would like to have less obvious zoning... but its not exactly a game-killer (yet).

Sorry but thats Aikin bullshit you talking.

In WoW the only zoning points are those what been patched with 2.4 content and between the two continents as itsself.

Dont talk about instances itsself tho as those are "intended" to be zoned.

Unlike in any other mmo you see between different "zone" borders what is most likley not happening in AoC.

Indeed, some complains are overly exagerated. Some people love to make an elephant out of a mouse.

The bottom line is that if you can't stand zones in general, like in the way they were implemented in EQ2, then you won't be drawn in this game. If you don't mind that, then it's hardly noticeable, especially once you leave the Tortage island complex.

That other thread, with the instance boss missing loot is a real issue. It shows that there are no itemisation tables implemented for the boss. Zoning is not a major issue unless a.) you're in Tortage, thus is making your life easier or b.) you're nitpicking for reasons to hate the game.

I to dislike the zonening system, but I understand why they have to implement it.

1. More players can be on the same server. That will reduce the need for server transfers.
2. Reduce Lag.

Think about it. If you launce a game today with 30 servers and +500K players, that means that there will be around 20.000 players on some servers (other will have less). Now, ofcause thay are not all online at the same time, but since most people will play for about 2 hours that will mean a server population at about 2000 people. Most of them in the newbe area. Would you like to play on that?? Every mob will be constantly camped and leveling will be imposible.

All that was just to make a point. +500K players is high set since not all have created there acount yet, but 2 hours playtime is low for a new game (more like 4-5 hours)

I still remember the Blood Elf area when BC launced for WOW. What a lag party. People everywhere.
