Does FFXI work for vista and what kind of firewalls do i need to shut down all of them? when im installing the game

i installed my old CD and once it wass done i went to play and got a message from windows saying the program stopped working properly

Yes, FFXI works on Vista.

Earlier there was some kind of extra fix you needed to download to get it to work. I don't know if you still have to do that. You do have to run it as administrator, though.

i think you have to download a special version of playonline for vista from playonline.com. i dont know for sure if you still have to though.

Pre 2008 Vana Collection: Yes you have to download PoL before you can install on windows vista. Link to US version: www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/vista01.html

 

2008 Vana Collection and beyond: No the fix is included with the CD. you do not have to get anything else.
