It's the first time I actually feel like a bad-ass without having epic gear on or level 70.. LOL -M |

yeah, actually, i think the combat in this is harder than any other mmo, since I have to actually see which side of the enemy is open, then choose the right combo move that will get me the best result. I had a very hard time tackling 4 mobs at once, since I'm a low level caster but I was able to take 2 down at a time before they killed me with some fancy combo clicking. I'm enjoying it. granted, there are a few bugs yet for them to fix, namely my one buff icon had disappeared for awhile but finally came back. chat window could be improved vastly, but guess what, WoW just improved theres with the last big patch and that's 3 years after its launch. the sound really has me though, i feel like i'm really there running through that forest at night and the wind blowing around and the awesome mucis building atmosphere. Havent had this much atmosphere since FFXI. |

Yeah I am lvl 19 nearly 20 finished noob island quests but wanted to get to 20 before I continuie. Anyways if you like the atmosphere you im sure you will love it. I tried wow and I am sure it has some great gameplay and great fun but for me I need to get immersed to get into it and have fun. Wows outdated graphics and sound didnt work out for me. Im used to zoneing from GW but i would take superior environment with zones over an open world that looks like it belongs on a Win 95 machine anyday. I just hope AoCs endgame stuff is as cool/fun as they have made it look. |

1 2 3 works fine if you are straight melee. try playing a Herald of Xotli, its a bit more difficult. In WoW, i had a shot rotation, spell rotation, skill rotation for every class to maximize damage output. Not much change there. This game on the other hand so far, has shown me I have to think on the fly depending on who is fighting me, how many, how tough they are, etc. Also, the instancing everyone is talking about isn't that bad. It reminds me massively of EQ2 and how it does it's instances. I just left Tortage City and it suddenly got big, complex and almost intimidating, so I decided to take a break and come here to post a bit. |

AoC doesn't stack up to WoW at all. I'm sorry, but this B.S. about the graphics being all that are bogus. Open your bag and look at your inventory. What the hell is that - a pebble? Nope, it's a pair of shoes! NICE GRAPHICS! While I'm sick of WoW and haven't played in over 6 months due to boredom, I was hoping this game would be one I could get into and start something new. Sadly, this game isn't that great for many reasons. I'll be waiting for WAR or Stargate Worlds instead. I'll play out my month free membership and see if there is some way in hell it will redeem itself, but I don't see it happening. I'd be willing to bet that this game only gets a moderate fanbase once it's settled in.

AoC isn't good enough to convince most people to buy a new computer to play it, maybe not enough to buy an expensive video card.
AoC, I really like the graphics, I like the architecture and design of the world. but it runs at 10 fps on average (has gone down since early access, and I expect to get even worse until a patch hits to improve things).
It's not a bad game, but it is a lot like WoW. And the pvp is where AoC is trying to stand apart from it. But if you run at 10-15 fps in old tarantia, how will you ever be able to do the 48v48 sieges? The minigames are on par, or worse than BG's than in WoW. Lastly there's raids, and I can do that in WoW already.
So I'm supposed to like AoC better than WoW because it's more mature and has uber graphics, but the gameplay is similar. I will admit the combos make fighting more complex and dynamic, but it's not revolutionary. I prefer casters anyway, and they play very similar to all other mmo's. AoC runs at 10 FPS with the lowest settings, WoW I can have at full graphics and get smoothe gamplay. WoW's art direction is just as valid as AoC's, it's just less realistic. |
