Actually, you are only partly  correct.  Funcom of course needs to do everything on their end to make it playable on as many hardware configs as possible, but in the end its up the the user to make sure his machine matches the known working configs, especially when it appears the problems are limited to a small proportion of the gaming population.

If you think this is the worst MMO launch ever then it's clear you haven't played any other MMO's. I had more problems when The Burning Crusade launched than AoC.

This thread fails seriously, how can you say its one of the worse launches ever seriously, the op has obviously never seen a launch before and i honestly think this was a smooth launch(overall) and i know that there are some people having problems but most of the time its because of their computers and they are also a minority of the people playing (they are more vocal in the forums because they cant play unlike the rest of the community enjoying the game) I havent had that many problems other than latency and low fps but that's cause of my crappy computer

The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.

Hmm, AoC falls short on being the worst launch. Even the 1st 3 days for Early access, most of the people had no problems at all.

The only mmorpgs that come to my mind about bad launches were SWG, Matrix Online and Vanguard.

And if your comparing this game to those, well hell, this game is mint then.

Goodluck to you..

Waiting for Earthrise, Stargate Worlds, KoToR Online and Warhammer 40K Online.

Hell I am not even a fan of Funcom or Age of Conan but all reports from guildies say that the launch was pretty reasonable.  Haven't checked it out myself, retail that is, because of issues with buddy keys not being in the boxes or some such drivel.  Definitely not paying $70.00 US (for the EU vers. as thats where my friends are) for a game that through beta was interesting but not worthy of a long term investment.

Haven't had any problems besides the patching.  That was fixed tho after terminating some processes.

Smoothest MMO launch I've experienced.

The game runs pretty good for me! Yeah there are some issues here and there but overall Funcom has had a successful launch for AOC. Its a great game that many are playing and having a great time with. Some just don't understand that mmo games appeal to the masses and not one's personal preference of what they think it should be.

So, I decided to finally bite the bullet and go buy AoC last night.  After finally getting the game installed and patched, I jumped into the world.  About 30 seconds in, I lose connection.  I connect again, and I get the same...over, and over again.

I logged onto the forums to see if anyone else was having the same problems, and it seems that a patch they put in Friday made it where some people are having latency issues where they're losing connection from the server shortly after logging in.

Now I'm regretting reading these posts about how AoC was one of the best launches people have experienced etc.  Hopefully they get these problems fixed soon so people can actually play the game.

Sorry to hear you have some issue's, even more sorry to NOT read a constuctive type of post which in my opinion is what could make this a intresting topic, now it's just one of the post that doesn't really help the community.

For example when making a post/topic like this what could be usefull is state your system specs, your internet connection type, the server you play on, all these "minor" things could be helpfull towards hte community and the community might be helpfull into helping you to maybe solve some of your problems, just because allot of people complain about the same doesn't mean the solution is the same for all.

As with any game on the market there will be people with bad performance, this can be due to the game itself, as far my experiance goes with games in general it's often the persons system that either is not uptodate, might be unbalance'd, or many seem to have simply no clue what they could/should be able to run on certain systems.

And NO i aint saying that it's your system, all i am saying is provide some more info before attempting to make a topic like this which in fact does not say much other then another unconstructive complain that doesn't help improve what isn't correctly working with you.

"<[EQ]Prathun> I can work on fixing EQ for the rest of my grown life and never fix it."

that latency problem is not peoples computers or internet connection. that bug has been around since at least last december when i starting playing CB. does it to anyone and any computer setup. even if you are running some 10 million dollar Cray it will shoot up to like 10k ping.....never got fixed spite all the posts made about it before the game went gold.....didnt know how to fix it i guess so the shills come to these posts and say things like "its your pos computer not the game, just cause there is a 19 page thread doesnt mean its a real issue".....drama lives on, and these are the final chapters of the Days of Our Lives

I have had absolutely no problems with AoC besides an occasional sound loop while loading into field of the dead but I know a few people who have problems running the game.  99% of those people either didn't read the minimum system requirements or read them knowing they didn't pass and bought the game anyway.  Try putting your shaders on 2.0.
