active prime time players is what the graph is showing... I guess I dont count, since I dont play during primetime hours... so maybe you should add one more?   Oh... make that 2 more... my wife doesn't play during prime time... or her brother... or the three guys I work with....

Hrmm. maybe a graph showing total paid subscriptions would be a better indicator?

But I would imagine you wouldn't like your "proof" anymore, would you...

Definitely leave out the world "educated" and then you will be closer.

My point is Wow is past it's golden age. For a year now it's not steady growth like blizzard likes to let be belived. They get a major increase in activity near christmas like every other game does but shortly after that people become bored and start looking for something more rewarding.

And i don't like you calling my numbers fake or whatever it is you belive. Those numbers are calculated through an addon that gets a snapshot of the server's population. Then they compare that snapshot with many others gotten at different times and make an average.

Yes wow got the most players but it's not the 1337 ub3r game you seem to think it is.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

I haven't played WOW in over 18 months, so believe me when I tell you this, its not a conspiracy, WOW really does have 10 million subs, in fact, they almost have 11 million with the addition of 700K in the first quarter of 2008.

www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/

"Vivendi Games continues to make strong headway with Blizzard Entertainment, inc and World of Warcraft ®, adding 2 million incremental subscribers compared to end of March 2007; After reaching the 10-million-subscriber milestone at the end of 2007, World of Warcrafts subscriber base grew to more than 10.7 million by the end of the first quarter of 2008."

So as much as it may pain you to believe it, WOW does in fact continue to add subs at a steady rate.  The Wrath of the Lich King expansion may not increase their sub base much, but it will certainly bring back a lot of folks currently not playing and keep WOW in the top spot for yet another year or two.

I'd love nothing better than to see some other games knock some subs off of WOW, then Blizz might be willing to experiment a bit more with alternate rule set servers (i.e. FFA) and what not, but regardless I have to acknowledge that the juggernaut continues to roll on.

........and there is the problem straight away, they are snapshots at random times of day from random players on random servers. If it was a snapshot every thirty seconds on every server for every minute of the day it would at least be close to accurate, but even then some would slip the net. Averaging the figures would of course be the way to go to show a steady trend, but if the figures that the average is based on are innacurate to start with then the average itself is useless.

You aren't the first to make this argument based on these figures and you won't be the last, but Blizzard and Vivendi have to give accurate figures to their shareholders and it is no way in their interests to lie about them.

Wow will decline in time and it does seem to have slowed a bit over the last 12 months.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

tell me why should blizz lie?

a wolrdwide acting company or a small fansite for a addon that nobody uses.
