IMO I think the world is limited due to the game being release on the Xbox.  Funcom have shackled themselves to the Xbox's limitations.  It's a shame I think AoC would have been amazing and pushed more boundries if it was developed as a PC title only. As it is AoC is a fun game, but not a great game.

Totally agree, you can always tell when a game developer is thinking more about console sales than pc sales when you see the product.

AoC feels like a console game and has all the limitations that consoles impose, the combat systems is not a revolution it is a simplyfied console version of normal MMO combat, its a big con and many people fell for the hype.

This is just silly.  The combat system is not a con it is awesome.  For me to be able to work a group of players and kill them with skill, positioning, side stepping, the use of certain combos and spells as needed at the touch of my fingers is epic.

In all other MMO's you have to ask yourself before a fight if the enemies level and gear are higher than yours(which means time played) if you can win the fight.  A fight in almost every MMO is entirely determined by gear.

In AoC I can get killed by one guy who gets the jump on me, but at the same time I can come across him and three of his friends and I can kill all four of them with skill, timing, positioning, and the right combo of skills.

AoC is an awesome game, and it is not limited by console development in any way.  The game was clearly made for PC first and will have to have some major tweaks to be playable on console.

You beat me to it.

I never really payed any attention to the combat side of MMOs even though it's a big part, there's nothing to it. After playing real-time combat in an MMO (AoC), every time I engage in combat in other MMOs I Alt-F4 immediately as I can't stand it anymore.

Played for a week now or so, soon into 50 range and its been a great time so far. need to be 80 so i can really get more into guild aspects of the game. anyone who judges the game before even playing through it cant really say so much, specially when theres prob no use of guilds until high-end game except for maybe less ganking on pvp servers.

same for me. (same reasons)

1) Only pre-lvl20

2)This is plain wrong. Try button mashing against a good player and he would beat you 1vs3

3) It has bugs like any other MMO at launch (and some 4years from launch). None Game-breaking and less than most MMOs at launch.

4)Specs are high for high quality graphics. you can run the game fine at low by following the minimum requirements.

5)Community... I don't have a problem with that personally. Though I'm sure it's not that bad on your server to just ditch the game because of it.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

I'm not playing, but more importantly, I'm not buying or subscribing to AoC after what everyone has said.

People bought AoC Collector's Editions of the game with 10 buddy keys, but those buddy keys are no good.  WTF is the point of joining a game one or two months after all of your friends are 80 and off doing their own thing.  I'm very disappointed in Funcom's AoC Buddy Key portion of the C.E.

From what I'm reading, instancing to the degree Funcom has taken it is a game breaker for me.  You have to "learn the system" to be able to keep up with your friends in the MMO world?  That is just insane.  Crafting, don't even get me started.  From everything I read, they should have just left crafting out of the game.

I'm more a social gamer and don't like instancing so this game won't be the game for me.  Love Conan.  Great lore.  Just hate to see a game with so much potential have immersion ruined by playing hippity hop in a "Age of Clonan".

Good luck to you all and it has been nice discussing Conan with you over the past few years.

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

There more games developed and released this year (hopefully). One of them might be to your liking.

Variety is good :)

AoC is like Obama.   All hype and no substance.
