I feel extremely jipped by the Collector's Edition.  Sure the concept art book, and the soundtrack, and the leather map are nice.  And seeing how there (as far as I see) isn't a free trial thing set up the 5 buddy passes are nice as well.

But my primary motivation for the CE was to get the cool items, and lets be honest with ourselves that was probably alot of peoples motivations for it.  The first cool item, the ring, is still marginally good but as many of you know stops working after level 40 and becomes nothing more then a non tradeable piece of junk.

The cape I loved the cape I could even understand with no hard feelings that it was useless until they put in the bar fighting mini game, it'll be in eventually.  But then I got another cape along with every one and their mom.  So now I just spent $20 extra on a fairly piece of shit ring,  a cape  that I  would have gotten anyway,  a map some music and some concept art that chances are I could probably find online and some buddy passes.

And had I known this would be the case I would have saved that $20 and spent the standard $50 and pre ordered for a cool mount.

So while this sad series of events has no bearing on my opinion of the game or its awesomness, imo the CE is a big fat fail.

The Collector's Edition is worth MORE than you paid for it!  You can probably sell it on ebay as is for at least what you paid.  Check out the prices and know that you really shouldn't have opened it at all..  several years from now, it might be worth as much as an unopened WoW Collector's Edition (which goes for around $800+)!

I haven't  gotten it yet  much less opened it.  And yes I am seriously contemplating keeping it for ahwile closed and selling it in the future the only problem with that is I promised several people buddy keys.

you were paying for the concept art book, the extra buddy keys, and soundtrack mainly. dont like them? to bad you opened the box and used the CE key. and frankly i am glad i am getting my free cloak tyvm. I was signed up for the beta from when it was announced and never got in. =P

anyone that spends 800 bucks on a CE of WoW or any other MMO is out of their mind...

You'd be lucky to even get an unopened copy.... don't worry about the silly items that you can get.  You'll still have fun playing the game as-is. 

And the buddy program is suspended temporarily anyway...

It's not about what you think of the game.  It's about supply and demand.  WoW is a classic.  You nor anyone else can take that away from them.  It WILL be worth money in the years to come.  AoC remains to be seen however.. but right now, the CE is selling on average $150.00 on ebay unopened.

I think there is a good point  here though, and I have seen this in other games as well, it's at least very inconsiderate and certainly very cheap/lazy to give in game items to everyone that you charge other players. Sure it might not be worth a revolt, but certainly worth venting on a forum.

pretty much sounded like you opened it in your OP...

I think how much you can sell it for down the road be it months from now or 4 years from now depends alot on the game's success.  An example is WoW whos CE is currently selling for $400 on ebay where as Tabula Rasa's CE is selling for $15 .
