Hi all, I will be starting AoC soon so I was wondering which classes are currently doing the best DPS? I would imagine it was meant to be one of the rogue or mage classes but I have heard the priests are doing great DPS at the moment? So in your opinion and experience which class has highest DPS right now? |

No replies? I just want your opinions from the PVP you have done so far, or the classes you have played. Come on chaps! |

no one really knows yet. Thats probably why no replies. Game is too new and classes are being adjusted to give you any concrete answers. Just roll a class and see if you like it |

Melee for sustained PvE damage Barbarians and Heralds of Xotli do a lot of damage, barbarians are especially good at multi mob damage. Necromancers and Demonologists are currently faring pretty badly and Funcom are looking into fixing them as we speak. Rangers also do a lot of damage, as do Tempests (uber good AoE). So you looking for basic PvE damage (instances and levelling), PvE damage for endgame raids, or PvP damage? |

Then I dont know because the DPS changed from the last time I knew of a top DPSer (which was three days ago) As I said, just roll a class you like and see if you enjoy it. |

Originally posted by Walliss Tough question! I guess in the end I want the damage for end game raids and PVP. Thanks a lot for your feedback. I played barbarian in beta and they seemed to do great damage then. Glad to hear that is still the case. I do quite fancy HoX as well though. How is the Dark Templar faring? I would imagine assassin is pretty high DPS? The reason I don't just roll them and test myself is that i'm not getting the game till 16 June due to real life commitments, and seeing as I can't read the official forums I am keen for information to make my class choice with. Thanks for the responses guys. |

I'll give you a breakdown on my impressions of DPS-capable classes during about the first 20 levels: Conqueror - Heavy armor. Some group buffs. Best DPS of the "soldier" classes. Not the best, but if you want to wear the heavy stuff, this is the way to go. Tempest of Set - Light Armor. Healer class. DPS here mostly comes in the form of the lightning strike spell, which is an AOE attack that hits pretty hard. The healer classes aren't really meant for DPS, but if you want a hybrid, this is your way to go. Barbarian - Proabably at the top of the list when it comes to DPS. They are built around frenzy and serious damage. You can go dual-wield or 2-handers, and there is still some debate ongoing about which is best. Though I think the scale is currently tipped in the favor of 2-handed being best. Assassin - Also very good DPS. Doesn't seem to quite get up there with the Barbarian, but these guys are master of the stealth attack. If you're more concerned with PvP and sneaking, then this might be the better choice. Ranger - Pretty much the best ranged DPS. Considered overpowered by most considering they can kill so well from a distance. Seem to have good survivability and awesome ability in PvP. Herald of Xotli - Very good burst DPS. All close range. Close range AOE (cone attack). These 2-handed sword-wielding casters are an interesting hybrid. They are however restricted to wearing cloth armor, making them very killable and the very epitome of the "glass cannon". Powerful attacks but quickly dispatched. ... If your main concerns are DPS, then those would be the choices to consider. However, nearly all of the classes are great at holding their own and have high utility in group situations. I would suggest staying away from Demonologist for the time being, as they seemed to somehow slip through the cracks when it comes to balance. They have some direct damage capabilities, but can't stand up to other classes and their pet is completely useless (though it looks neat). Necromancers can also be great to play, but if you aren't good at utilizing pets and DoT spells, then you might want to shy away from it. I would compare it to the warlock class in WoW, only more challenging. So, hope that helps, and good luck in game!

Ranger.. So far TOTALLY broken. I am playing a necro and well I can't take many melee hits but a ranger 2-3 levels lower then me and 2 shot me. While other class can be managed. |
