I got so much
trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose.

Big shame... I think TCOS is a great game in every single aspect. And probably preferable to AOC.

But since last year it is howering in limbo of nearly finished , polishing , almost ready for release but no publisher ?

Why is that ? Why in hell are they not releasing it if its (almost) finished ? Why no publisher wants to touch it ?

Is there any solid sign that the game will be ever released ?

And when ?!?!?!

They just mentioned not too long ago that they found a US publisher.

They also said that the game would now be a simultaneous release in the US and Europe in Fall of '08.

I'm guessing more news will come in the summer about exact dates and such, hopefully they won't push it back much further, I'm dying to play this game.

Well, last news we heard is that they got a letter of intent signed by an US based publisher and that per their request to get more prep/marketing time, they have to aim for Q4 release not sooner.

Sadly, after that I got skeptical a lot.

First, it’s a convenient excuse to postpone game. Secondly, since the publishers name was never announced it's most likely not a strong deal this far and a publishing contract was not announced yet. Thirdly, developers apparently are hell bent on releasing the game in classical fashion and are not looking at alternative distribution methods.

For now, it looks like their business plan is in serious jeopardy.

Actually, most publishers prefer Q4 to any other quarter in the year due to increased holiday sales.  It is VERY easy to get a publisher to wait until Q4 to release, but hard as hell to get them to postpone a game past Q4 to the following year.

So it comes as no surprise to me that the publisher requested a Q4 launch instead.  And one quarter can hardly hurt the game - it is just more time for polishing and bugfixing.

Spellborn announced two months ago, if I am not mistaken, that the release of TCoS is postponed with 6 months, so I was left with the impression it comes out in September.

I also think the release will be in september. They are still beta-testing it.

I've heard they have found some major bugs that need to be fixed first before they can release the game

The TCOS devs are doing a great job. I don't think we will get an unfinished game when it will come out :-D

But I think I will certenly buy the game when it comes out! I'm following the development for 2 years now

I don't think it is september as they have not even announced who their publisher is, plus this marketing has not started yet as far as I can see so september seems a bit soon.

I am pretty sure the game will be comming out around late october early november. It seems like they are aiming for a Q4 release which also means theyll be in direct competion with Warhammer online, although I think it is a different type of person looking forward to warhammer.

It is not true that no publisher will touch it. Already three publishers have been found for it for release in different parts of the world.

On the other hand, this game is not almost ready, else we would have been on open beta. Polishing a game is sometimes more than cosmetics and very much part of the developing process itself.

Personally I would be surprised when this game will launch this year. They said Q3 this year, but see no reason to take their word for it.

When you think about it they have no reason to release before the end of the year. As much as we all hate to admit it they can't compete with WAR or WoW expansion. If they release 6 months after they will probably get a lot of gamers trickling over from WoW AoC and WAR (to a lesser degree). If they release now people wont even hear about it.
