Hi all!

For a long time, I have been a member of the community here at MMORPG.com. I have posted a lot and I believe I have been fair in my assessment of Age of Conan. I have played since release and tried and post here whenever possible in an attempt to keep the community up to date with information. I respect both sides of the argument (when valid points are made) and have enjoyed my time.

However, a recent influx of posts in these forums, have made me decide to leave this community of posters. There are so many posters here who ignorantly post the same incorrect information and unbelievable accounts of Age of Conan, that it is clear to me that nobody really cares to have the truth. It is not worth my time nor anyone else's time to post here and read these forums anymore. Nor do these posters allow for anyone to post good, well-reasoned arguments. So here will be my last comments about Age of Conan and take it for what its worth:

1. Age of Conan is designed to be a different sort of MMO. It is not WOW, LOTRO or EQ2. It is designed as an MMO with a very deep and rich story. That story permeates the game. Some people want to call it linear and thats fine for me because its the STORY that is linear in the same manner that Oblivion and The Witcher are linear.

2. Performance is an issue but it is not as bad as its made out to be. I run the game with 40-50fps on average in the wilderness and thats on an AMD Athlon 64 (2.4ghz single-core), 2 gigs RAM and a 9600 GT. Age of Conan is not WOW and you cannot run it with I-Tunes playing in the background and the web open looking up quest info. It does take a lot out of your computer.Minimum requirements are accurate if you have a WELL-MAINTAINED computer.

3. There is plenty of content but unlike other games it doesn't drop it in your lap. Saying that AOC has no content is like saying that EQ has no content. You have to go look for the content. Age of Conan is a game of exploration. I am level 38 and I have not had a single issue with finding quests or leveling. There is more than enough content you just have to find it.

4. Many people want to complain about the copying of zones. (Some call it instancing, I call it copying). Either way it is having multiple copies of a zone. Age of Conan is not the first to do this. EQ2 did it, COH did it and other games did it as well. It is a design component done for many different reasons. Regardless, it is well known and I do not understand why people constantly complain about it. YOU KNOW ITS IN THE GAME...IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT DON'T PLAY!!! I personally could care less about it and it has not hurt my view of the game or killed the immersive experience.

5. Age of Conan is a new game. It just launched so there will be issues and bugs. Things will not work. The game has not been out for years like WOW and had years to make it perfect. People aren't going to understand how everything works and it is going to take trial and error. If you cannot accept that, then do not play.

Those of you who constantly seem like you want to ruin the game, go right ahead and try. You only make yourselves look foolish. What you are doing to these forums is driving away any good discourse and arguments. I assume the same thing happened in beta for Age of Conan. So many beta testers probably acted like the trolls on these forums and criticized the game that it hurt testing. They were too busy with beta leaks and trying to save the community from Age of Conan, they forgot to test the game. I place 75% of all of the issues with Age of Conan in its current form on beta testers who wanted to get a free trial and forgot that their JOB is to test the game. I expect EVERY game from here on out (WAR, AION, etc...) to suffer the same fate for the same reason.

Finally, my plea is to the moderators of this forum. There are known trolls who constantly post the same thing in multiple threads. They use the same arguments with the same false information. I know because I have reported many of them myself for trolling and the same redundant posts. This handful of posters is destroying the community here. Once this was a great place for information and help. Now its just a place for fanboi vs. troll where reason and well-sounded arguments get drowned out in the fanboi-troll arguments. I am leaving this community and I know others have as well for this reason.

Good luck to all and I wish you all the best in whatever game you decide to play.

No one can make you feel inferior without your permission

Not really much we can do about all of them.  We just have to constantly filter out all of their crap.

Sorry to see you go.

Im happy for you, that you like the game, etc.

But personally, i feel ripped off for paying for a beta..

i would still be playing/paying if the game wasnt on the wrong side of 50% completed

it should never have been released...

ive talked to so many people (from beta) and read so many posts that say the exact same things

that I PERSONALLY hitched on, when playing this game... that theres no room for doubt

the state of the game is appalling to say the least, and i can only tolerate so much

ive read over and over again how MMOs today "arent supposed to be" or arent expected to be complete

well, guess what? i dont really care much about the missing content... its all the other stuff added together

it did entertain me the first 20 or so levels.. so i guess i had my entertainment

but no reason for me to pay for something i dont like, and thats just the way so many others also feel

as for the reason for these topics.. its because of funcom

1. they elevated the game into the skies with PR and all that money making jazz

2. they put up servers, and just let it roll... quite the money making regime

3. no support, no presence.. too much silence

4. a) they hid the fact that the game had less than 50% content

     b) classes, feats and skills broken

     c) not nearly as many items as on the box (not even close)

     d) <all the broken features added together goes here>

we both know this can be fixed, but i dont want to pay anymore than i need to

if WARhammer online lives up to the hype, i will find what i look for right there

nice post though.. dont let the funcom forums get to you, people like me all over in there

I vote you stay.   Counter the ignorant posts with non-ignorant posts.

New launches always illicit this kind of activity.

Unless a game launch is an unequivocal success (and there has yet to be one) you'll always get these type of  post from the people who have allowed their expectations to get too high.

In every forum you'll find "h8ters", "trolls" and "fanbois"

It is one of my favorites (websites) and I'm glad to have found it.

"My soul finds rest in God alone: My salvation comes from Him."

- Psalms 62:1

I completely agree, bad to see you go but I am in the same situation. I have tried on multiple occasions on this forum to state truth's, but trollers and fanboys seem to not care and give out false information/lies. Lately, since AoC has come out I have been to busy playing the game to really care, but every once in a while I do come back to see the same BS so I have given up on posting for the most part.

P.S. Two posts above this one is a good example of this BS.

You know what really bothers me about AoC?  Have you guys tried contacting Funcom?  Let's just say.. I hope you can speak Norwegian.  I don't want to email and get a generic response, I want a person that I can talk to and get actual support from.  Funcoms is nonexistant.

I would suggest you to stay but you are your own person. Its like this in any forum when any mmo is just released.

But goodluck to you wherever you go!

I hope your game lives up to its hype MadGonzo. Because if it does, it will be one hell of a game. I have a feeling you will be disappointed.

In the meantime I'm having a good time in AoC. It's got what I want.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

Somewhere in a dark basement out there the trolls are chalking this up as a win for their side.

Sure, its easier to walk away and not stand your ground.

But doesn't make it right.

Whatever, everyone has to do what they enjoy doing, and if posting here isn't for you, then good luck in whatever forums you land in.
